Mentaiko Salmon Don Sous vide goodness salmon and egg 😍. The salmon is finished with a blowtorched yummy mentaiko mayo sauce. Also, the salmon steaks were soft, tender and moist, so do take note if you prefer your salmon firmer 🐟. The egg is perfect with that runny lava yolk and it just goes so well with the furikake on rice 🍳🍚. - This place is super affordable and value for money. Japanese donburis seem to be in trend nowadays and one value-for-money option would be Don.档 at Foch Road. At $9.90, this bowl of Salmon Mentaiko Don comes with a decent sized slab of Norwegian Salmon that has been sous-vide before topped with mentaiko and flame-torched, atop a bed of rice that has been sauced with teriyaki. Accompanying it is an onsen egg with runny yolk that is perfect as a rice mixture while the tangy pickled vegetable is a great compliment. However, I prefer my fish to have a firmer texture which I find this sous-vide salmon to be too soft for my liking and an additional touch of salt will do wonders to accentuate the natural flavours. Chinese Style BBQ If you’re looking for Chinese skewers and want to enjoy BBQ food without getting smoke in your eyes then this is the place you have to visit. The skewers are grilled and placed over a platform with candles to keep the food warm. Their menu is also extensive which gives a good choice of variety. The only downside is the skewers get heavily seasoned with the same seasoning which leads to having similar tastes with different textures across all skewers. I would suggest giving the rather bland lotus root a miss and try the Sichuan spicy noodles that became my favourite dish that night. Dongbei Cold Dish It's not what I expected. Elsewhere it's a delicious savoury side dish. Here it's pickled then served with chilli? The greens were acceptable but the tau kwa strips were so hard. Overall thumbs down.

Chaoshan Beef Ball Soup Trying new item. The balls were large and firm. Some people would find them hard, but I find good beef balls to be kinda hard. The soup was the usual sour type, featuring vermicelli and enoki.

Salmon Bowl A very stomach filling bowl. The fresh sashimi slices were topped with creamy Mentaiko mayo sauce and seared to its perfection. Salmon Poké was included in the bowl too with Yuzu Ume Rice mixed with greens salad, prawn roes, cashew, almond mix and yummy onsen Egg. With such a variety of yummy protein flavours, Salmon Samurai is definitely a health-conscious choice for lunch over in CBD area and their bowls of salmon are reasonably priced too.

Spicy Salmon 💰 / $14.90 One of my comfort food comes in a bowl of spicy salmon poke topped with ikura. Every piece of salmon was generously coated with spicy sauce - leaving every bite a satisfactory one.

Chicken Karaage Curry Rice The chicken karaage was crispy and curry was pretty good. A little on the pricey side, but would come again for the curry!

Double Goodness//双拼 ($12.90) Choose from 5 proteins - roasted chicken leg, pork shoulder shabu, beef knuckle shabu, chicken karaage and cold sesame tofu! (You may choose 2 of the same protein too) Choose up to 3 proteins @ $14.90. (ALL IN!) The bowl came piping hot with steam (they prepare the food only upon ordering, that's why it took awhile to be served). I had the roasted chicken leg and pork shoulder shabu which were really tender and cooked to perfection, well-marinated. A ladle of curry sauce paired well with the don so your rice won't be dry and boring. We also ordered the buffalo midwings ($10 for 10 pieces), taste was normal but cos we were famished so they disappeared in a few mins. We also had the curly curry bomb ($10) - just curly fries paired w curry sauce that came in a really big bowl, so it was very worth it for the big portion. Good for sharing! The menu stated that the fries came with bacon bits but there weren't any when it was served (disappointed though). Prices are nett (no GST & service charge)! Really worth it for the taste, portion, and that the food came piping hot!! Oh and my friends ordered the unagi don ($16) which was really yummy and worth it too! Portion of the unagi was just right and not too stingy.

Ho-Jiak's Japanese curry bowls are not just ho-jiak, but they're super shiok too! The level of awesome is too damn high @hojiak_sg. Apart from their chicken karaage which I loved, their meat bowl with shabu beef and pork is really delicious and worth it for only $14.90 in the CBD.

Usual FRI night Out Order the 2 sets of hitacino nest craft beer promo with karaage/yakitori with edamame for $16. 90 per set. Lots more draft beer with tako wasabi, tebadaki (deep fried chicken wing). Food wise so so, beer wise good. That's it.

Waygu Nikomi Onsen Tamago Don The Public Izakaya is definitely a great place to wind down for dinner, especially since it's located in Tanjong Pagar. We visited during lunch hours and they offer a lunch set that is simply fantastic. I can already picture myself chilling there with friends after work. Their oden is incredibly flavorful; you can tell it's been slow-cooked for hours yet remains delightfully bouncy. For the lunch set, they offer a variety of rice bowls. I opted for the Wagyu Nikomi Onsen Tamago Don, featuring Wagyu beef in cube style—it was truly delicious. I particularly enjoyed how well the thick brown sauce complemented the onsen egg and rice. Crispy Fried Chicken | $17+ literally what the title says, it was really crispy. adequately coated with a golden batter, it was the perfect balance of crisp to tender chicken ratio. i enjoyed it the most with a dip of that creamy mayonnaise! will reorder this or get the karaage that i’ve seen people ordering.

Omakase Oden Set (6pcs) | $22+ the best part of oden - hot piping soup, where you’ll taste hints of sweetness from the dashi stock, and that savoury note once you let it linger a little longer in the mouth. i’d get a refill if i could. out of all the ingredients (all tasted good by the way), my favourite was definitely the daikon. such a simple ingredient, yet made so well. it was the just right softness, not too mushy yet not too hard. the best part of it all, was that in a single bite of the daikon, you’ll get the soup too as it has absorbed all of the dashi stock.

Smoke salmon bagel So sad that the place has closed down. Tried the bagel once and it is amazing! They really offered good deli food and coffee.

Classic Reuben Had always wanted to try a decent Reuben sandwich and here I found it! The restaurant’s version came w a generous serving of the cured meat, on thin toasts. Unfortunately, the toast was a tad too “doughy” and hard to pull apart. Would have been better if it was just toasted lightly, or if a brioche was used instead.

1hour+ Wait For Brunch, Stale Latkis & Got “Chased Out” 🤢 I don’t even wanna talk about the price, but you’d imagine $20-30++ for brunch per mains @ Mandarin Gallery. Made a reservation @ 10.30am along with 5 other friends for a b’day brunch. Our orders only arrived at 11.45am... and I was really excited to dig into my pastrami and crispy latki dish, a Jewish potato & onion crispy “rosti pancake”. Well, all I got were hard, stale pieces of pure disappointment. They’ve probably been windowed for too long, not served warm and it was a total chore to finish the dish. To make things worst, out group got “chased out” by the staffs at 12.20pm, kept reminding us that they have a party of 11 to cater to and hope me understand... was it our fault that y’all took so long to serve us?! Guess it’s safe to say that we didn’t quite enjoyed a quality B’day brunch 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

0/10 buffet First time I’m leaving a review in the middle of a meal. Won’t recommend the buffet at all, have to get the staff in order to order the food. Some of my food didn’t come at all, food serve takes up to 30 mins so you might want to order more right from the staff. Wanted to order a second round, the staff acknowledged me but didn’t come at all - waited 10 mins. Took them 1 hour into dinner for my first round of food to be served, and I didn’t order a lot either. The guy staff is very friendly but shop seems terribly understaffed and not systematic at all. Food isn’t worth the price if you talk about quality. Quantity is a problem too due to the speed. Asked 2 staff for hot tea refill, 20 mins later still nothing. Had to take the cups to the counter to ask for tea.

Beef Short Rib Bowl 11nett Add On Pork Belly/shoulder +2.5nett U get a choice of Base and you can mix anything i believe. I got the kimchi rice and cilantro lime rice. Took away so didnt feel the rice was anything special at all, tho it might be different if u eat it on the spot. Beef Short ribs were quite tender and fatty, though it doesnt seem like it needs 40hours to achieve. Meanwhile pork belly and shoulder were coated in a sweet red sauce. Lava egg was perfect tho, and they allow you to add all the toppings. Overall, decently satisfying but the portion was incredibly generous. Im a big eater and being completely hungry, i still almost couldnt finish it

Pork Belly Bowl $8.50 Add the ramen egg for additional $0.80! The ramen egg was the highlight of my rice bowl! Very flavourful with a semi runny yolk in it! The mix of flavours in this bowl was amazing! Never thought Korean Mexican fusion would produce such a good result! Every mouthful contains a mix of sweetness, tangyness, saltiness. Also, it is super filling and definitely makes a work day better! I'm already looking forward to my next lunch break which I can have this again.
