White Chocolate Cheesecake, Seasonal Fruits, Crumble & Milk Ice Cream ($19.00++) I have never tried a White chocolate cheesecake but it’s a rather interesting contrast of equally prominent sweet and savoury notes.

Espresso Martini Crème Brulee & Brown Sugar Ice Cream ($19.00++) This is another one fav that I will come back for it. I would never think that Espresso, Martini, Brown Sugar Ice Cream can make up such a great combination on Crème Brulee.

Spaghet lunch 🍝 The marinara spaghetti was not bad for a Thursday lunch with the coworkers ✨ but the sauce was a bit underwhelming in the sense that there wasn’t that much flavor to it. But I did enjoy the pasta- it was more of like a linguine type! And the seafood was okay as well, again, it didn’t really have much flavor to it?? I guess this dish overall was okay but I feel like there are other amazing pasta dishes you can get for a cheaper price at other places. I guess this place is more catered to meats/bbq/grilling that kind of thing so I can understand why their spaghetti wouldn’t be amazing ya kno? Deal used: 1-for-1 main dish lunch

Chicken thigh The chicken was juicy and the accompanying salad was surprisingly tasty. The mashed potatoes were ok. The sauce could have been better but overall with a Burpple 1 for 1 deal it was a yummy and value meal.

Nice food to pair with beer or wine Seafood risotto was delicious. Ingredients were fresh and generous. My hubby had the chicken. Sauce was also delicious. We ended the meal with the pistachio dessert. Not really to my liking abit too sweet. And the ice cream was pandan flavour. Not pistachio. Was expecting for pistachio ice cream hehehe. Steak Puns Are A Rare Medium Well Done Steakout has been around for ages, and they’ve had a change of chefs a year or two ago. However, the last time I paid a trip to Steakout was also a couple of years ago, which means that there’s now only one question that steaks out: has the quality dropped? Fortunately, the answer is a resounding no. This 250 gram slab of Angus ribeye straight from New Zealand costs $26.90 nett and is worth the moolah. Tender, succulent bovine is sublimely seasoned with salt & pepper, and served up with a redolent red wine sauce. That’s really all you need for a decent meal that’ll steak out in your memory. Of course, the sides are still rather disappointing, but bear in mind that you’re here to chow down on the cow, not on the cow’s food.

NZ Angus Ribeye - 250g ($26.90) This was slightly disappointing, especially considering the price. The steak while well-seasoned turned out to be a little dry, and slightly over-cooked for something that was supposed to be medium-rare. Quantity of the side dishes were not great, and other places like Astons etc. which have similar offerings at cheaper prices are more generous with their sides. If the steak itself was better, it might have been worth it. But unfortunately, this fell short of expectations. To be fair, their non-steak items like chicken are much cheaper and probably more value for money.

For Wickedly Good Pasta You really don't need to spend a bomb on seriously good Italian pasta. The Wicked Garlic's Aglio Olio is very much raved about, and costs a mere $5.70 on its own! But of course, you'd want to add some prawns (+$6), mushrooms (+$1), or even some bacon (+$1). Even then, it makes up to be a more than decent pocket-friendly meal. Nicely put by Tastemaker Shawn Loh, 'Amazingly wok hei prawns, and wickedly value for money. It's the PSLE top student of aglio olios seriously, why it doesn't have its own Brands Essence of Chicken endorsement deal is beyond me.' Their Carbonara ($8.70) is superb as well!

Claypot Hokkien Mee $16.5 What this Hokkien Mee lacks in wok hei, it more than made up for in terms of portion size and ingredients. Meant for 3, our order could easily feed 4 of us. Besides the unique distinction of being cooked in a claypot, the Hokkien Mee here is also brimming with sotong and lala clams. And in-lieu of pork lard - gloriously crispy chunks of salty pork belly crowning the noodles. Speaking of the noodles, these are of the wetter variety, which was a plus point because the broth was flavourful, imbuing the combination of yellow noodles and beehoon with umami. Some might bemoan the absence of smokiness, but I didn't miss it here. The accompanying sambal and limes enhanced the enjoyment further, with bursts of spice and zestiness to break up the monotony of the soft noodles.

Wok hei hokkien mee $4 This Hokkien mee was so much better than when I had it a few years ago! Got wok hei, flavourful stock. Haven’t tried it since then cos I eat at the other Hokkien mee stall anyway. But now that it tastes so good, I know where to go when I want a different style! Average Hokkien Mee The portion is small (I say this as a small eater) so definitely don’t get the $4 one 😅 it was ok but it felt like the stock they use just wasn’t tasty enough to produce a solid Hokkien mee? it was well fried tho, not too dry/wet and noodles were not soggy. Note that it doesn’t come with pork lard - kind of a deal breaker for me. I was lucky and got my order really quick but I heard that the wait could be long sometimes.

Pumpkin Croquette Why did I order pumpkin? I regret it.

Kaki Fry Aka fried oysters. They're small and weak but I can't complain at this price point. I love fried oysters.

Sashimi Yusheng [$48.80] Huat ah everyone! Thank you @teppeisyokudo for the early CNY lohei - this is the first for our family this year. This sashimi lohei is made with salmon, hotate, swordfish, tuna and ikura, on strips of white radish and carrot + Teppei’s Kaisen sauce to drizzle on top. Would have loved a lot more touches of sweetness here so there’s more of a refreshing balance instead of the majority savoury notes, but otherwise the sashimi were fresh.

Tender hand-dived scallops layed upon a generous slab of almond-crusted silky foie gras, both pan seared to perfection, bathed in savoury sweet carrot-butter emulsion with scallions. Visually engaging, magically sweet, and delectably sinful with those fragrant fats. This bistronomy concept would have been well worth pursuing, essentially fine-dining in an approachable bistro setting. Very surprised, and definitely sad to see @sorrel.sg go, a few months after head chef Johnston Teo left. This place had polarized diners at times, but I had felt that the experience was extraordinary; great quality with decent prices in a casual yet sexy environment. Their techniques were deserving and execution flawless. Does anyone have any outstanding recommendations, especially for lunch sets? #burpple

Amuse-boche, sorbet. Take the beetroot sorbet with that small pool of balsamic jelly and drop it in your mouth, then take a small sip of hot hibiscus tea (inside that cute porcelain cup/bowl). Let it melt, and feel everything evolve in your mouth and come together. Delicately sweet yet distinctly earthy beet in a cold sorbet; followed by the sharp and tangy acidity of vingarette and jelly, and lastly, the soothing warmth of tea with a bittersweetness of hibiscus. A dance of flavours, textures and temperatures; befitting of a sensory explosion. It took me some time before I could even understand the brilliance of this deceptively simple dish, presented elegantly as one single grape. #throwback to good times with a fellow foodie, and to when #sorrelsg just started out. #foodporn #foodgasm #burpple

amazing chirashi don & wagyu don came across this restaurant by chance and absolutely love love love their chirashi don!! super thick and fresh slices of sashimi with a generous serving of ikura for just ~$30! ordered the wagyu beef bowl as well and the beef slices were perfectly cooked (medium rare), would definitely return 🤩❤️

Fresh Selection Of Sashimi In A Rice Bowl Have heard of Manzoku for a while as I was a fan of Chikuwa Tei and they opened a rebranded outlet. The sliced sashimi still maintains the fresh quality with a plethora of seafood. The more premium bowl contains sweet shrimps, scallops, grilled unagi and salmon roe. Can't fault the ingredients if they maintained high standards with a relatively affordable price tag.
