Avoid that cake. So so so dry. Just not the same as years ago when this cake was so decadent and moist. Makes you wonder how old the cake is.
Expensive for noodles without much ingredients. Also a lot of black burnt flecks in the food. Ie the wok not cleaned from previous use.
Hope it’s been a relative enjoyable CNY despite the virus situation. .
I have been particularly busy, not so much because of many visitations, but because I decided to cook more. Prepared yusheng by hand as well as steamboat. My CNY resolution is to get my house in order so I can invite people over for a meal next time!!
.
Regarding the virus situation, I myself have actually cut down on going out. Previous years would see me going to airport for CNY coffee! Today I zoomed through the supermarket to get stuff, and felt guilty each time I saw someone with a mask and I’m not wearing one. Also doesn’t help that Adam has been sick, so he’s had to sit out on the visitations lest people cast the evil eye on him.
The dishes seldom disappoint, and you can expect quality and consistency even during the busy CNY period. Featured above are:
1⃣ Double-boiled Bird's Nest with Almond Cream served in young Coconut
2⃣ Premium Wealth Treasure Pot
3⃣ Baked Fillet of Sea Perch in Champagne Sauce
4⃣ Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Whole Abalone, Sea Conch and Korean Ginseng
5⃣Abundant Wealth Yu Sheng
Set menus start from $128++ per pax (6 course)

🍴Windows on the Park
📍Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre
Super pretty interior and no surprise it was very crowded on Sunday.
.
Tried the Boulevard. Not bad actually. Comprises brioche w poached eggs, bacon and tomatoes. The poached eggs were more like scotch-eggs though. Not sure what the green muffin thingy on the side was, tasted raw too.
.

Amazed that I passed by countless times and never noticed! Hard to find single storey coffee shop by itself, with free parking directly next to it, in Singapore already!
.
The Nasi Lemak is good. Definitely worth a try if you are around this area. Rice is hot, fluffy and not clumpy nor greasy. Ikan bills very crunchy, not limp. Fried chicken is crisp and tasty, and again not greasy. Chilli is slightly sweet, not overly spicy and really compliments.
.
Coffee is 70 cents! Where to find man. I heard vadai is good. Shall try next time.
.

As one of the premier Chinese restaurants in Singapore, it's no surprise that the CNY dishes are really delectable and decadent!
.
Take for example the Pen Cai, which features 3-Headed abalones. The smaller the number of heads, the bigger the size of the abalone! Wan Hao is one of the few places offering such large abalones!
.
And the Lobster, Alaskan Crab, Scallop, Salmon, Caviar and Crispy Fish Skin Yu Sheng from Wan Hao. Is there literally anything else expensive that isn’t included in this? The crunch comes from the crispy fish skin added, and not run of the mill crackers. Diners also have a choice of White Peach Sauce, Kumquat Sauce or traditional sauce.
.
Another thing that you simply must have when you are at Wan Hao are its soups and soup-based dishes. There is just a richness to the broths that only can come with many hours of meticulous simmering.
Dishes featured above
1️⃣Lobster, Alaskan Crab Scallop, Salmon, Caviar & Crispy Fish Skin Yu Sheng with White Peach Sauce & Passion Fruit Pearls
2️⃣Bird's Nest Dumpling with Crab Roe Superior Soup
3️⃣Wan Hao Imperial Pot of Prosperity with Australian 3-Head Abalone, Drunken Chicken & Crispy Dried Oyster
