With no shortage of quaint coffee shops to sit and sip along Keong Saik Road, The Daily Roundup’s interior boasts a lovely industrial yet cosy vibe. And when better to appreciate the space than when it’s dark and gloomy out, with a cup of hot tea to warm you up or a refreshing drink as a perfect accompaniment to our blazing afternoon sun.

Serving a sweet variety of crêpes, the Berries ($14) comes with a medley of seasonal berries, creme Chantilly, caramelised almonds and red fruit coulis. A good balance of tanginess and do remember to couple that with a scoop of Vanilla Bean ($4) ice cream to amp up the factor of lusciousness. The crêpe itself, made with premium wheat flour was distinctly light and slightly stretchy when pulled apart. Though the price is the main deterrence for me, their Roselle Hibisus Iced Tea ($8) was a thirst-quenching concoction to wash the crêpes down!

Now priced at $7 & $9, the bowl promises a great deal of quality ingredients such as plump juicy wanton, tender pork belly charsiew as well as crispy potato prawn. Accompanied with springy gan-lou noodles and potent rich pork broth.

Thankfully for the cooling weather which encouraged me to brave the queue while snagging up the last few daily limited bowls.

Lolla is the place we point our friends to for good food — which is why we think every couple should make a pilgrimage here at least once in their relationship. Expect hearty and downright delicious small plates that are great for sharing with your beau. Apart from some of the best-selling dinner items like the Sourdough ($4) with Kombu Butter ($7) that are also available at brunch, there are a few new additions like the Stuffed Squid ($26) and the Crab Lasagna ($29) that you must order. The latter is packed full of luscious crabmeat and paired with a delectable bechamel sauce, a dish Burpple Tastemaker Michelle Kayla Tey says is "bound to leave you sighing with contentment". If the wallet is willing, order the Doughnuts with Lemon Curd ($12) or the Steamed Dark Chocolate Pudding ($15) for a luxurious ending.
Avg Price: $70 per couple

Can roast chicken get anymore perfect than this? It looks perfect, it's beautifully plated, the entire piece of skin is crispy, the flesh is tender, juicy and screams flavor! #lollasg #burpple

Another week, another Matchaya mystery flavour. I remember having my first lavender soft serve in Hokkaido, and this beats it hands down, holiday magic and all.

That lavender scent is the first thing that hits you. Strong but not over powering, it's perfectly tempered by the milky creaminess that Matchaya is so good at incorporating into their desserts. Really good and worth a try, though I'm still waiting for the return of the Kuri. 😛🌰
