The squid was nicely cooked, nothing to complain about the doneness, however, I did't seem to be impressed by the butter..Maybe I should have go for the more extreme side like ginger orange, foeigras, and 'spicy' salted egg yolk, alternately, ordinary easy-going truffle butter and sambal. The varieties of the butter did impressed me though but I probably will try them on the other mains next time.

The duck meat was not overly done and remained tender and juicy, unlike those from the ColdStorage. Although I wasn't convinced with the veg used for the salad initially I decided to take back my words after the first bite of the combi..π± I wasn't suppose to eat that much before my next meal that was going to be in less than an hour time. I will say this is definitely worth for a try especially when you're not so hungry, on special diet, reserving the tummy space for something else π

I just realized I had ordered something that least popular in general after my visit when checking back on IG. For this reason the chef's agility had been tested unintentionally, and I was impressed. I was a little bit skeptical about this dish when I saw the side of green with thousand island, for a second, I completely forgot about the essential retro 60s concept that it supposes to retain until I tried it.. This is Spicy Aglio Olio, surprise~ it's Spicy π. I'm not sure did my col requested for more chili as this suppose to be his dinner, not for me. For so many times I attempted to request for a spicier Aglio olio around the world, hardly came to one that satisfied me. Nicely done spaghetti, with ham, little tomatoes and garlic that almost dissolved in the olive oil, well tossed with parsley, black pepper and parmesan, seemed like there's lime leaves within too. It's not the type of Aglio olio that I usually preferred but anything that surprised me, I love it.

It was a pre-dinner coffee session before a meeting, we decided to go for something light and fast so my col ordered this from the snacks menu. It's not a good choice to me as I don't really take raw without alcohol π, it's kind of waste to me especially when come to dishes with beef and sashimi. Moreover, I have an instinctive antipathy towards the taste of rΓ©moulade (it's similar to mustard mayo). Anyway, my col manage to empty the bowl with only good comment left over, no food was wasted

The curry was rich in spices with little cream. I am not a noodle person, yet I didn't know that I can actually replace the noodle with beehoon! What a waste! Imagine that my beloved thin fine Henghua beehoon swims in my favorite white starchy broth (a bit like sour-spicy soup / Sibu's sea cucumber soup) and blends well with my biggest love dark vinegar, it's gonna be my perfect kind of sourly appetizing dish! Can't wait to try that soon when I back for the other famous dishes like the Har Cheong Kai (prawn paste chicken) and Fried Lala (fried clams)

Especially for those with heavier palate, the broth is slightly saltier and richer in flavor. I did not try the white sliced fish since the fried fish was highly recommended, it turned up a really worthy one. The fish is cut thickly and nicely fried in crispy batter without losing the fish meat tenderness and freshness, remains juicy, perfect doneness. Normally I don't like to add milk to my soup but this broth base comes with a very thin content of evaporated milk by itself that actually max up the soup aroma, you may request to add on additional milk which I did not. Lastly, also the bonus point, the tangy deep fried egg is topped generously!

If it's not because of extensive recommendations, I would never step in this Kopitiam just for the sliced fish soup (it's one of the oldest kopitiam I've dined in so far π), it's located at the corner along the road side, with old cracked wall, dirty cement uneven floor, bad ventilation, oily tables & chairs... There are a few individual stalls doing separate preparation and cooking within the kopitiam and I heard that the claypot rice there is pretty impressive too. What to do, it's hard to find really good food in overpriced food courts and restaurants these days.

Basically I was attracted by the little crowd (proven all queue in SG is the essence to biz success π). Anyway, the Shibuya toast with ice-cream has surprised me, I was wondering why is it so different from the normal thick toast until I looked into the menu again, since it is named Shibuya toast probably they are using japanese bread that is softer and similar to brioche π€, that's how it becomes so silkily crispy after toasting. Although the topped vanilla ice-cream is not the milky type that I like the whip cream is meant to be there to complete the dish by adding on some notes of buttery saltiness, go along with little maple syrup, definitely worth a try with that price.
As for the spinach quiche, I am not a pie person but I was able to finish almost the whole piece by myself as it is overall lighter, unlike the usual quiche often stuffed with too much unnecessary fillings. Less greasy and most importantly it's just out of oven! π
