Gordon Ramsay would be proud of this beauty of a fillet mignon seasoned just right and enveloped in a crepe-like pastry to be baked to this delicious Beef Wellington to celebrate Christmas lunch😋
Masquerading as a small stuffed turkey this beautifully roasted quail came with a glutinous chestnut rice stuffing reminiscent of bak chang. I’ve always found quail to lack meat as they are usually lean but this one served by level 33 for their Christmas brunch was juicy and meaty and satisfied my lunch hunger pangs
Good start to Christmas feasting
Baked eggs in a tomato base with jalapeños and a buttery baked slice of sourdough to mop up all that goodness for brunch? Yessss take my money already 😜
O Burpple Beyond you are awesome! Enjoyed the juicy fried chicken breast with truffle mushroom cream and mash which was free using 1-1 and polished off the bbq porcine ribs in record time with the man. Matcha pancakes were so-so but provided a sweet finish nonetheless to a great meal. Plus coffee the wallet got off lightly with a loss of $41. Lovely place for a chill date, staff was super friendly and lighting and music were great.
The Man was happy and yes! we would certainly return!
Throwback to when this was the craze during my trip to BKK. Delicate, wobbly and cleantasting this cute blob matched perfectly with the soybean powder, crushed sesame and caramelised sugar. A light delightful dessert to end a thai food binge day
Burpple Beyond at Beyond Pancakes saves the day! This Galette plus drink was one-for-one with the Groenten Pannenkoek plus drink. (Veggie Dutch Pancake) Very tasty worth it deal albeit a bit of a wait and zero service
Damage $18.90 for both
One of the best platters made hy man must be the seafood platter. Hosting lobsters smoky prawns mussels fish fillets clams and everything edible under the sea this has me drooling even as I am describing this. And the freshness! And the price! Really good fresh wallet friendly nosh!
A must order if you’re holidaying in the beaches of Western Australia
Not for vampires and not for people who like their breath fresh.. this dish has double the garlic factor in it. Marinated with a garlic paste and then sauteed in a hotstone pot the chicken came off rich in garlicky taste. Whilst the boy found it tasty the smell emanating from it was enough to make nongarlicnononion me reel over in a faint
When you order kopi-o-kosong and you get an adorable ‘koo’ on your Christmassy cup.
I cant speak well enough of the staff at Toast Box.. in all the outlets I’ve frequented they have been cheery efficient and friendly.
You can get a decent laksa/chicken curry rice with good local coffee and kaya toast/honey cake/egg tart for dessert for less than $15.
Oh and how can I forget their eggs! Either soft boiled or hard they come with a gorgeous orange hued yolk.
One of my favourite all time to go places
The rebranded Fynn’s at South Beach still serves up lipsmacking good grub at reasonable prices. Their gamechanger brussel sprouts is still on their menu but they’ve added more Italian to their other dishes. Featured here is their special starter burratini which came looking like a huge poached egg and tasted like creamy goodness.
We also had the oh-so-good duck ragout and ended sweetly with a hazelnut semifredo.
Great place for a date night
In Melbourne at Bibelot cafe in Errol Road there is THE best chocolate praline ganache tart I’ve ever eaten.
Crowned by a glorious biscuit crumb and a triple gianduja layered chocolate tart therein lies a dessert treat like no other.
Coupled with good coffee and equally good company it was a great way to spend tea time
This visually unappealing dish is as it is.. non descript, overpriced and far too simple to pass off as a meat pao.
The duck although done perfectly had its crispy skin taken off and replaced by a salty crispy breaded coating whose taste was reminiscent of chicken in a biscuit. Four measly slices of cucumber were meant to be inserted into the pao and the dipping sauce tasted like ketchup.
Added salt to the wound was a hefty $29.
If you’ve had peking duck or stewed pork belly pao please continue that tradition and skip this dish.
