First you are led to your yurt, a traditional Mongolian house(view it in my insta stories). We ordered a set meal since we weren't familiar w Mongolian food. We started off w a mix of sweets and savouries, like pickled cucumbers, cold stir noodles, bean curd skin, pot set yoghurt, frozen milk, red bean fried mochi like thing. Which was confusing (since we usu eat dinner last) but tasted good. 🍴
The roasted lamb was truly the star. Unlike the lamb we get in Singapore which has a strong game smell because it's they are mostly goats, lambs over here are grass fed young lamb that doesn't have much game smell and super tender meat. They get you to eat the crispy lamb skin first (almost like when you're eating suckling pig) before peeling off the meat for you. 🍴
Halfway through the meal, the Mongolian server actually fried up an omelette for us. After that, they serve a chicken soup with super fresh mushrooms and barley bits. While ending off w a main dish, "You main yu". We all thought yu (鱼), fish, and was dreading it since we were all already super full. Then we probe more and realised it was more like noodles. End up, it was a delicious bowl of mushroom, black fungus soup w noodles like mee tai mak. 🍴
All in all, it was ard S$60 person but definitely worth it for the experience and delicious food!! 🍴
