Must try: papaya salad (som tam) and prawn dishes! Also the smooth tunk ka coffee to end your meal on a sweet sweet note.
*the crispy pork had a gamey taste so I'd recommend another meat (shrimp) for your choice of som tam but the papaya salad here is bursting in flavor with a kick ass tangy sweet and salty sauce (from the complimenting addition of salted eggs). The chilled raw veg side and nuts in the salad also add a crunchy harmony to the yummy salad.
*the lemongrass curry here was different from yesterday's because of the absence of Thai herbs yet still aromatic with the lemongrass. If I were to be critical I felt the decadent coconut milk curry was not fully infused with the lemongrass flavor. We resorted to chewing the lemongrass. Yet the prawns are fresh and great, they cook their prawns in various other ways that one should try when at Tunk Ka.
The rest of the dishes was decent, on top of some really decent food here there is a great panoramic view of Phuket town with the cafe being a top a hill. Minus the insects and rather indifferent servers, the place is really worth a visit to catch the sunset over great food.
Price: dishes range from 80 - 400 Bhat depending on what you order. Our total bill came up to 1550 Bhat for 4 pax. (With drinks)
Trio of desserts but none were particularly fantastic unfortunately.
