Seng Loong

I was blown away by the third item we ordered at the Ipoh Stadium food court. “Seng Loong Fried Mee”, stall 32, sure does a fantastic fried “bee hoon”. It may be lightweight in serving size but a heavyweight in terms of “wok hei”, hitting you full in the face with a crazy smoky aroma even before you dig in. On the palate, the taste is equally intense. The “bee hoon” (you can also choose “kway teow”, “mee” or a mix) is fried just right - not too dry or wet, and super flavourful from the prawns and cockles I opted to add. Seasoning is bold, which to me, is perfect. I paid a little more for extra beansprouts because, well, this is Ipoh, the land of gorgeous rubenesque beansprouts and I like to have as much of it while I’m here (total price: RM 6.80).
My sis-in-law told me a little later that the father use to do the frying but since his passing, the son has taken over. Well, judging from my experience, I think his dad would be very proud.
