Looks like a deep fried mess, but more like deep fried PERFECTION with that tasty batter
This dish sounded so odd we ordered for the ‘why not’, but it stole my heart 😌 Apparently ginger soups like this are common for post-pregnancy mothers, though no restaurants actually serve such soups. I’ve no idea how to describe this bowl of umami, ginger heat going very well with the fried eggs, but it’s just bloody good.
Kundasang hardly has any good (if any) restaurants, so we went back to SS Chinese Restaurant multiple times because the food is legit good. This steamed chicken especially, was just made with simple ingredients of salt, sugar and a little wine, but turned out so so good. The friendly owner warmed up to us and told us that the yellow skin of the chicken is much more natural, not like those sickly white chicken skin we find nowadays.
Bonus: the huge array of dogs, puppies and kittens the owner keeps behind his restaurant, many of which were abandoned; so much cute and good (and super cheap, we’ve never eaten over RM80 for 4) food :)
Yumz these were like little nuggets of tofu/fish paste
