Sichuan Pickled Grilled Fish This place although they just opened not long ago, but they gained its supporters among the local residents around Ang Mo Kio for its affordable and valuable meal. Provide wide range of dishes on the menu, focus much on local cuisine. And beside dishes like laksa, they also have options of grilled fish that somehow quite on trend recently. Available in individual or sharing portion of 2 pax, their grilled fish can choose from a few different flavour to go with. The popular one would be this Sichuan pickled. Each individual size of the grilled fish is in half fish portion and you need to decide to go with either with tail or not. The individual set would come with Chinese cabbage and beancurd skin soaked in the soup. I would say the portion is good enough for one person, not too much or too little. The rice has to order separately, or you can opt for maggi mee. The soup is heated with candle at the bottom, but mine was go out pretty fast. So the soup would become cold soon after.

Searched up Google reviews & it sounded promising... It didn't disappoint. $5 for a bowl of comfort with a good variety & amount of ingredients. I'm really happy. & I LOVE the soup. Slightly sweet & garlicky - really only a little bit - which makes it special & different. Best part is? There wasn't a queue slightly before lunch. & turnover is quite quick. Parking at Whampoa Food Centre is always such a nightmare; I feel like my inner ah lian comes out when trying to get a spot... But I'd go through all of that again for this. HAHA.

Fishball Noodles 📍Ru Ji Kitchen They have 4 outlets in Singapore and the one I tried is from Old Airport Road Food Centre. Expect a queue during lunch time, I waited around 20 minutes. I ordered the standard meepok dry with chili. The chili has hints of sambal and hae bee hiam, which makes the meepok really fragrant, with a slight sweetness. Fishballs and fishcake feels handmade, bouncy and juicy. Super decent bowl of fishball noodles considering it is $3 only. Portion might be a bit smaller for bigger-eaters though

Bak Chor mee 5nett (Teo seng 01-57) The sambal was unique but not particularly good, overall it's somewhat dry and clammy. The pork lard was absolutely terrible, and it's an annoyance that there's so many little pieces to remove. Overall it's alright, the soup has meat wantons inside but that's not v good either

Pork noodles Long queues every day, although in my opinion, it’s an average bowl of pork noodles, especially if you compare with those across the border. Noodles were a little over cooked, chilli sauce not fragrant and spicy enough. The pork broth was rather bland. Ask for extra lard bits, helps accentuate the flavour of the noodles.
