Coffee Took the coffee. Indeed nice, with a unique and powerful flavour. Too sweet tho. Need to ask for less sugar. The tea is ordinary.

Didn’t Live Up To The Hype Saw that this received a Michelin recommendation. Coffee was good but not the best. Kaya toast was a disaster. Bread wasn’t properly toasted and looked pretty sad. You’re better off getting some your kaya toast fix from ya kun.

Authentic Hainanse Breakfast Fans of traditional toast ($1.20) this is worth the queue. Thick butter.. so satisfying. Ice lemon tea ($1.70) taste like thick and refreshing just like homemade. So good.

Cheap N Good Hokkien Mee + Carrot Cake #01-165 新億代 is this newly opened (2 months) stall at old airport food centre run by a young pair of couple. Order the Hokkien mee ($4), which is very tasty with 2 giant prawns and loads of ekan bilis and fried lard bits! Also ordered the black white carrot cake ($5) + egg ($0.5 more)! The white carrot cake has lots of chai por and the black one is simply delicious! The black sauce is really fragrant! Super satisfy and new found gem at old airport ! Xoxo, wet tissue no have

Good Bak Chor Mee Found this stall accidentally and was a bit surprised how good the Bak Chor Mee was. And so near to my home! As usual, I ordered Mee Kia Dry with chilli. The noodles were cooked al dente and the chilli sauce had just the right level of heat and piquant enough. Liked their lava egg and that the livers were not overcooked. In the soup were fish dumplings. These were plump and silky, with each bite yielding the umami taste of fresh pork fillings. I can eat this by itself, just dipping into chilli and soy sauce. Be ready for queues during mealtimes though.

串串 It’s been a while since I last had 串串 and I decided to give Chuan Shi Dai 串食代 at 74 Prinsep Street a try:) We chose 2 soup bases, namely Spicy Soup With Less Oil 少油麻辣锅 and Pickled Vegetable Soup 开胃酸菜锅. The mala broth is quite shiok but the pickled vegetable soup is a little salty. There is huge selection of skewers ($0.50 per skewer) and hotpot ingredients, and my favourites include marinated beef with chives, pork belly, tofu, dumplings, oyster mushroom and prawn paste (虾滑). The ingredients are fresh and they go well with the soup base. There is also a wide variety of sauces and condiments to choose from and you can customise it to your own liking. This is my first visit to Chuan Shi Dai and the food is surprisingly good. I am super stuffed by the end of meal as 3 of us ended up eating 80 skewers unknowingly (goodbye diet...)😅 Till next time!

叉烧 polo bun Finally back in Singapore!!! And first thing I did was to get one of my food craves for breakfast this morning. This is a pretty new and underrated bakery which serves the usual bao and polo bao in many different flavours, like 奶油芝士, Japanese red bean, chocolate, even sweet potato! They also sell other pastries like 老婆饼 and even things like charcoal 蛋挞. I regularly flock to this place because the pastry is so buttery and fragrant, with a soft and flaky texture! They are really generous with their toppings too. I love how the buns are served hot all the time as well 😋

Taazi Polo @ Toa payoh. Super flaky #叉烧 酥. I love it warm! Why is their Chinese name 王子 but English is Taaizi is a mystery. Maybe it has as many as meanings as the number of layers in the #puffpastry. 😁

Healthier ban mian in cute bowls! Handmade mee hoon kueh in pretty/ quirky bowls. Every diner at my table got a different bowl! There’s pork, prawn & clams and they also sell fried stuff. The mee hoon kuey is qq, the others liked their dry ones, I thought my soup one was nice & comforting but could have done with at least an egg for texture. New Fave Bbq Skewer Hangout Now that bbq box has become hipster and boring, I've been shopping around for a new bbq skewer hangout and this one has legit China feel. MSG galore, raucous crowd and $6 beers. Generous portions so don't over order. 💡: If stumped by the mysterious queuing system (there is none) , just give up and go to the end of the street for BKT instead. 🚗 : Easy (by geylang standards) parking along Lor 11- either street if you're lucky or at the ERP carpark between lor 9 and 11.

Decent noodles and dumplings with some misses A new Hong Kong restaurant in Singapore, @gingsunho.sg has opened its doors in the East, offering several rice, noodles and dumpling dishes. The Mala Beef Noodles ($13.80) was an appetising plate. The noodles were chewy and were well tossed on chilli and vinegar that wasn't too spicy, but yet had a good kick and numbness. The coriander was a good complement to the noodles as it added extra aromatics to the already flavourful bowl. My only gripe is that the beef was just blanched and unseasoned. Perhaps it would have been better if it was tossed in with the chilli too. As they are known for their pan fried dumplings, we had to get some too! At 3 for $5.80, it was quite expensive but at least it was pretty juicy inside with soup. The meat was nicely seasoned but unfortunately the skin was abit too thick and mushy and we could taste the strong flour flavour. Although there were hits and misses, we feel like you can try still this place once.
