Halal Vegetarian Vegan Korean Cuisines Skeptical at first about halal vegetarian vegan Korean cuisines, but it turned out far better than I expected. The food mostly amazed me, especially their steamed egg.
Ttukbaegi Gyeranjjim ($10)
Almost every visit to a Korean restaurant, I never fail to order this dish. One of my favourites and also part of my quest for the best Korean steamed egg in an earthenware bowl. This bowl was the most impressive so far, with the highest puffâup egg among all Iâve tried. Light, fluffy, soft and wobbly with a soufflĂ©âlike texture. Savoury and umamiârich, you can taste the broth infused into the egg. Must order!
Budae Jjigae ($12.90) Add Set (+$3.50)
Army stew with an addâon set that comes with two mandu (veg gyoza) and a glass of iced blue pea flower drink. Comfort food as always. Chewy ramyeon, baked beans, soy sausage, enoki, rice cake, firm tofu, seaweed flakes and cheese all in an umamiârich hot pepper broth which felt kinda mild for me. Haha. Dumplings were crispy and filled with vegetables. Drink was sweet, refreshing and cooling.
Miyeok Bokkeumbap ($11.90)
Seaweed laver soy ham fried rice. Shortâgrain rice tossed with zucchini, corn, soy ham, seaweed laver and sesame seeds. Portion was just right for one pax, filling and tasty with a deep savoury note.
Japchae ($12.90)
Korean stirâfried glass noodles. Served with mung bean sprout side dish and corn cheese. Chewy, springy noodles with mixed vegetables. Generous portion, loaded with veggies, savoury and tastisfying.
