Opened since Dec 15, its location in Grandstand alleviated the need for long waits to get to try this. Ingredient would be similar to that in a steamboat, except these better retain their distinct flavours in the steam pot. Definitely healthy since there was no oil involved, you'd taste the original freshness of each ingredient. Was particularly pleased with the really fresh and sweet prawns and flower crabs. The finale would be to enjoy the porridge that had been cooking underneath the steamer, with all the essence of every ingredient from the beginning.
Had a pleasant meal and would definitely be back for more without having to think too much about eating unhealthily. I'm sure we will be hearing a lot more about this place. #burpple
The only place to try it now is at Rong Fu Ji at #01-04 at The Grandstand.
Seafood, meat , vegetables are steamed (without any seasoning )Their juices will run down to the pot beneath containing a little pearl rice and dried scallop stock. After your various courses, you'll finish up with the meal with the porridge. This concept is made popular in Hong Kong thanks to singer Alan Tam.( where you need to wait 6 weeks' for a reservation ! )
The latter might seem more hip but the quality of food here was definitely a notch above. Food were fresher, bigger, better. Most memorable were those really fresh and sweet big prawns and sweet corns, though the crabs today were less ideal than my first round here.
