Awesome Singapore Food

Fat Belly serves up a classy, no-frills, and communal dining experience with succulent steaks and unique appetisers. I ordered the 2GR Full-Blood Wagyu Denver and Jack’s Creek F1 Deckle, with two sides of Grilled Broccolini with a chilli & anchovy emulsion and Creamed Kale with white wine cream. I was amazed by the masterful simplicity of their dishes; the steaks were served with a sprinkle of salt and a roasted clove of garlic — that was really all it needed to be perfect. The creamy earthiness of the garlic was a vessel for the juiciness of the steak, and the salt helped to lift the buttery richness of each bite. The sides were also prepared with refreshing, tangy, and bitter flavours that complemented the umami of the steak. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience and Fat Belly is now decidedly one of my top go-to restaurants for steak in Singapore.

I came here for a Friday lunch and ordered the Shabu Shabu Pork & Jumbo Prawns with a side hustle of Lala clams — it was such a hearty meal and I wish that their soup can be served in a bottomless claypot. One Prawn & Co. is definitely an expert in serving up sumptuous and unique flavours of prawn mee. With a combination of elements from Penang prawn noodles and Japanese tonkotsu soup, the broth here is full-bodied and rich with umami goodness. Accompanying this amazing broth is a bowl of noodles topped with crispy pork lard, fresh beansprouts, fried shallots, and tangy sambal. The menu here is diverse with options and allows the diner to create their own ideal prawn mee meal, be it with ngoh hang, braised pork ribs, tobiko prawn balls etc. I can’t wait to come back for more!

This is a really lovely and cosy bistro along Joo Chiat Road (: I ordered the fish tacos, seafood bouillabaisse, and miso salmon for sharing and it was such a satisfying dinner! The fish tacos were definitely the highlight for me — super crispy yet succulent beer-battered fish, tangy salsa, rounded off with a rich chipotle sauce. Special mention for the bouillabaisse as well, which had a hearty deep broth and fresh seafood. Can’t wait to go back and try their other dishes!

Treated my partner and myself to a wonderful steak dinner here last week! The food here is reasonably priced and the service staff are super friendly and helpful. We ordered a 250g Grass-fed Flat Iron and a 250g Rib-Eye Steak, both cuts of meat were well seasoned and mouthwateringly tender. Our choice of the red wine sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the succulent steaks. I have also heard a lot of exciting reviews about the ribs prepared at this restaurant, and I can’t wait to go back to try them next (:

I highly recommend the rice balls here - generous fillings, well-seasoned rice, and some pickles on the side (what more do you need!) The kimchi stew was also super flavourful and tangy, making it the perfect accompaniment to the rich rice balls. Can't wait to come back and try the mouth-watering egg rolls next! 😁

MeadesMoore takes a very interesting approach to their meat dishes, serving up the off and uncommon cuts of beef in innovative, and of course, delicious ways. Some of the standout dishes for me were the breaded pigs head with caviar, the bone marrow with sourdough, and their flat iron steak dishes. Each dish offered its own unique harmony of flavours - the crispy breading with gelatinous pig head and the umami of the caviar, the melt-in-your-mouth steak goodness with either a deep bordelaise sauce or a tangy salsa verde. Overall a 10/10 experience for me, will definitely be back for more.

I tried 5 different flavours from this stall: Emperor’s, Hakka Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables, Hokkien, Nonya, and Pulut Hitam. All of them were delicious, with a good ratio of ingredients to rice. The balance of ingredients and flavours made each dumpling a perfect meal on its own. My favourites are the Emperor’s, Hakka Pork Belly, and the Pulut Hitam. I will definitely recommend this to anyone who loves both variety and authenticity in their dumpling choices. In all, I’m very impressed and satisfied, and can’t wait to purchase from them again soon 🙂
