pork collar barley risotto ($20++) - 3/5 š
ā¢ fried vege was super yummy & sauce was
flavourful
ā¢ didn't really like the texture of the risotto (bec they use actual barley grains which didn't actl click for
me when ordering so that was my fault). however my friend q enjoyed it!
ā¢ found the pork collar a tad dry & tough. could use a little fats but you would like it if you're a fan of leaner cuts!
nachos tater tots ($12++) - 3/5 š
ā¢ not soggy but wasn't super crispy
ā¢ generous serving of sauce & tater tots
ā¢ abit jelak after awhile
ā¢ nothing new
honey paprika wings ($13++) - 4/5 š
ā¢ nicely fried & crispy
ā¢ honey was a great combi to the savoury dish. would have loved to have a honey dip on the side too!
ā¢ v generous portion, possible to split among 3-4 pax
lychee rosewater cake ($7.50++) - 4/5 š
ā¢ sponge was a tad dense with a strong rose flavour
ā¢ i didn't fancy it too much because of the rose flavour & cream but my friend thought it was pretty yummy
ā¢ not too sweet! & had some refreshing bits of lychee flesh/pulp between the cake layers
overall bill $63 after ++; most dishes were abit of a miss for me this round, esp for the price.
hopefully i'd pick better next visit! š
not sure if something's up with my tastebuds lately but i can't decide if i enjoyed the mazesoba today š¤Ø found the flavour abit lacking although i liked that the texture of the soba was pretty bouncy & chewy! i had the tomyum soba which was pretty good on the first few bites but then kinda got boring after abit. the garlic mazesoba my friend had was not bad though. love the option to customise your bowl to have lesser noodles & more veges - good option for chive lovers.
the okonomiyaki though was rly š w the sweetness of the charred cabbage. drinks during happy hour were all $6 but the yakut so chu was soooo watered down & mid. the yuzu highball was a good one though, definitely recommend.
anyway final rating for me is 6.5/10!!! good service though š
definitely something that can be made at home!! quite a simple drink but it's rly just a smoothie lor nothing rly much like boost or anything but for $3.50, the portion is p decent š«” not my first choice of drink
minimum order w burpple is a medium hawaiian acai bowl. deal is applicable to both acai & pittaya which is great! only sauce applicable for burpple is honey so everything else is +$1. we bought the medium hawaiian acai bowl & medium fruity acai bowl. found the acai abit icy & diluted? average lor. less sweet compared to other acai shops but i guess that makes it healthier. felt that the topping:acai ratio was abit off also with way more acai than toppings - if that's your thing. i liked that they gave passionfruit though! pretty affordable w burpple & a pretty generous portion too šš»
a distance from bugis mrt, whiskdom is not a place we'd visit again albeit the great service (they also let us redeem >1 deal for 3 pax!). the ham bagel was just an expensive version of macdonald's breakfast mcmuffin. the otah one had quite a substantial patty but you could really just make that at home yourself. the otah was good though! the kimchi one was okay, nothing impressive, j meh. felt that the bagel was abit tough though? the egg one was pretty good! flavour was significantly better than the rest. the size for the price however, the bagelry opposite might just be more worth it. without burpple beyond, i don't think we'll return.
husk is located in a pretty ulu mall & i wouldn't say that it's worth trying to find it. went there during dinnertime & only 1 diner was there. the staff were very friendly & quick to serve us though! ordered the lemak chicken ($12.50 nett) & grilled chicken ($9.80 nett) for dinner. my friend who had the grilled chicken rated it 7/10 while i found mine mediocre at best. the lemak sauce smelt fragrant but was alright only. it was on the spicy side though! the chicken thigh was also quite skinny. the sweet chilli was also average and the rice was a little lacking in coconut fragrance. the egg was a japanese onsen egg that was slightly overdone? appreciate the innovation/fusion but the nasi lemak would have probably paired better with a fried sunny side up. wouldn't visit again but wasn't too expensive after burpple 1 for 1 but you could probably get better at your area's coffeeshop for cheaper.
basically a deconstructed vietnamese rice paper spring roll in a bowl! it's rly what you see is what you get nothing special about it but it's still a decently pleasant & filling meal. prices are rly affordable too ($10.80 nett for the pork bowl & $9.80 nett for the chicken bowl) so that's a winning factor š loved the coffee ($4.60)!!!
exceeded our expectations for food from a bar but was not objectively outstanding. my friend who ordered a pork katsu don ($12.90++) felt that for this price (discounted), she would rather spend that money on toriQ & that she was unlikely to revisit. i ordered the saba don ($10.90++) and found the food decently yummy & would return. the rice was slightly crunchy with tobiko and furikake, the egg was ramen egg with a jammy yolk. the pork katsu was kind of dry with no sauce on top or at the side. total bill was $15.10 post discount.
had yas army stew & soft tofu stew, 2 melonas & 2 ayatakas for $17.40! the army stew was a little bit of a letdown as the meats inside were kind of artificial & the "spam" was just thinly sliced, tasteless ham. still, the soup was warm & hearty, and pretty decently flavourful despite its ingredients. however, i would have thought it would come with cheese as it's army stew but it didn't. the soft tofu stew was good & quite tasteful. they ran out of drink options so we only had ayataka. loved the service though!
