Maybe Don’t Go Back

Maybe Don’t Go Back

A quick reminder why you shouldn’t be a cheapskate sometimes.

Visited for the 1 for 1 all day breakfast deal and tried the savoury pancakes and eggs royale. The savoury pancakes had good baked beans, bacon and berry compote, but anything that didn’t start with ‘b’ wasn’t great. The pancakes tasted a little stale like those prepackaged Marks & Spencer’s bakes.

The eggs royale was the typical poached eggs on muffin with hollandaise and a side of salad. The poached eggs were done well but the smoked salmon was fishy and harkened back to the staleness of the pancakes. Appreciated the amount of hollandaise but the eggs were a tad overdressed with it. Unlike the eggs, the salad was completely naked. There was no dressing and the arugula was just bitter and, guess what, stale. We really appreciated the complimentary water because we needed it (though it’s freshness could be questioned because when we got to the table there were already two glasses of water prepared.)

The coffee is on the acidic side so if you enjoy bitter-sour coffee this one’s for you. We recommend sticking to the basic brews because we had the ice manuka and dirty coffee. That’s it.

We were served by a young server, Lokesh, and he was so attentive and polite (even more so than the more experienced staff). We really appreciated his service and he made our experience much better.

Iberico pork was very succulent (albeit salty) and
the calamari was light and crispy. We initially
dropped by for the 1 for 1 4-course deal (3-course + dessert) going for $79. However, we went for the 3-course set instead as it costs $29.80 per person. That would mean saving $20 for 2 desserts which we weren't willing to pay for.

When we first entered, the young service staff asked “sparkling or still (water)?" we assumed if we said ‘still' they would provide tap water - WRONG LOL. They brought over a $6 Acqua Panna (before GST and service charge) and cracked it open before we could stop her. Since the service staff was young and that it was also our mistake to assume, we let it go.

We thought things were going well after our still
water crisis but things took a turn when they
brought out tater tots aka burger king hash-browns. Turns out 'Truffles Pommes Noisettes', one of the options for sides on the set menu, meant reheated tater tots with truffle oil (see pic).

Needless to say, I'm not quite sure whether l'd
visit again especially if I’m sleepy or mildly drunk. STAY ALERT.
