The BBQ chicken wings ($1.40 each) from Sin Bedok North BBQ Chicken Wing (#01-12) are really good. The wings are smokey and juicy, and so addictive with the tangy chilli sauce and a dash of lime juice.
We tried the rice dumplings ($3 for 6 dumplings and soup) from Ah Balling Peanut Soup (#01-25). Apart from the typical peanut and black sesame filling, there is also yam paste filling that is less commonly found. The peanut and sesame filling are on the sweeter side while the yam paste filling is not very sweet. The dumpling skin is smooth and chewy, and they go well with the hearty peanut soup. There is also the option of ginger soup and almond milk soup to choose from.
The springy noodles are tossed in a delicious chilli sauce and served with char siew and plump wantons. A pretty decent plate of wanton noodles!
This stall only offers 3 types of noodles: mee kia, kway teow and mee tai mak. The alkaline taste of the mee kia is a little strong and the noodles are a little soft for me, but the sauce is not bad - will probably opt for mee tai mak if I order the dry version ($4 for large) next time. The soup version ($5 for large), which comes with soft minced meat and tasty meat balls, is flavourful and comforting.
