Cafe
Half expected basic substandard pub food but was pleasantly surprised. Fish was light and crisp. The nachos were a generous portion too.
What impressed me the most was the branding. Very consistent and you will know you were in a football themed cafe. Even the toilets had football related items!
Had the burpple set which is 36++ for a main, drink, starter dessert. Only has western fare. Their desserts were gd.
But you can easily order their ala carte which are on one for one. Very comforting home favourites.
Service staff will ask if you'd like still or sparkling water. Both are chargeable. Ask for iced water instead.
Do make reservations since the place is quite small.
Ordered the burpple set (88nett for 2pax), which gives you 4 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts.
Appreciated how each dish all had very strong flavours, although some might find them overpowering.
Liked their creamy mushroom pasta which had fish roe in it creating little bursts of flabour with each bite. All the starters were large on flavour, which was great since we had the sourdough to mop it all up.
Service was excellent too by the way.
Throughly enjoyed our crossaints here. Absolutely soft and fluffy on the inside with the right about of flaky crispiness outside. Definitely worth the wait.
The best meals are the simple ones done right.
The sourdough bread had a crispy crust but soft on the inside - my pref is to pair it with jam (preserves) & butter! But they have other spreads as well. Eggs were done nicely and the added mushrooms completed the simple meal. Overall a satisfying meal at $10 (+$4 for mushrooms)!
The red wine sauce is the main reason why you should get this.
Rich, robust and full of flavour, the sauce perfectly complements the other elements of this dish.
The smooth buttery texture of the mashed potatoes, along with the earthiness of the mushrooms.
The beef too nice and tender.
Liked it so much I came back one week later and ordered it again.
