Journey to KL for sourdough bread with your foodie friend at this gorgeous, open-air spot tucked inside The Zhongshan Building. No stranger to the bread scene, Tommy Lee is a master of sourdough – think perfectly shaped oval loaves that are crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. You can have the bread as a sandwich filled with Smoked Salmon (RM25.80), Roast Ribeye Steak (RM25.80) or Egg Mayo (RM15.80), or just with Butter and Brown Sugar (RM10) – simple and delicious. You can also take a loaf (in halves or whole) home with you from RM10.

To satisfy your sweet tooth, Burppler Rynz Caryn recommends the Peach Strudel (RM16) for its well-balanced flavours. Kenny Hills is popular for their Wholemeal Sourdough (RM25) too, so grab a loaf quickly as they sell out fast.

With its quality bakes at reasonable prices, this local bakery in SS2 has risen to become the neighbourhood's firm favourite. We hear they import Japanese flour for their breads to give them a softer texture. Try the chewy Luo Song (honey and butter bread, RM5) or their signature Classic Sourdough (RM10) that is both egg and sugar-free. Also good are the pastries, especially the Earl Grey Cream Cheese (RM6.90) and the Salted Egg Croissant (RM7), best enjoyed hot.
