Burpple Eatup! 🥂
Newest addition to the modern Claypot family! This is actually my second favourite after the ikura rice. I usually pick out the pork lard embedded in my food, but for this, the pork lard is one of the highlights. The crunchy and salty flavours from the bacon and pork lard complemented the chewy and bouncy rice beneath. A Super protein bowl with an onsen egg on top. A must-try item!!
Finding it troublesome for you to cut the meat for your kids? Indulge them in a bowl of ikura, tobiko and onsen egg claypot rice and see them enjoy the eggs dancing and popping in their mouths while they chew their food away!
Was pleasantly surprised at the combination and how the entire dish turned out to be. One of my top picks for the night.
Oh, to further share about the rice preparation, the rice is parboiled and left to cool so that the starch in the rice is released. While this method shortens the time preparation for an entire claypot rice (~10mins), it is time-consuming. Traditionally, people use raw rice in the claypot and cook it from scratch. This parboiling method reduces the starch intake in your rice, while giving that extra bouncy bite to the rice.
Slow-cooked for 16 hours, the generous slices of pork jowl were indeed deeply marinated in teriyaki haven. What I liked about this was the flavour of the pork jowl - deeply marinated to perfection. However, I thought that the slices were too fatty over the meat ratio.
With that, I drizzle some homemade specialty red bean sauce over the parboiled rice to give extra flavour to the entire bowl.
Yes, an entire 12-hour slow braised pig trotters for just $8!
Served with a 50-50 even ratio of meat to fats, the fats portion was chewy yet soft. I felt that the meat, however, was slightly dry. But overall, the trotter was braised to a taste just right. The sauce wasn't too sweet nor salty and would taste even better when drizzled over rice.
A definite recommend to order to share when you're in groups. The portion is an entire trotter, so don't be shocked!
Chefs behind Mr Lorbak definitely have to include their signature lorbak into their claypot rice!
Tender lorbak with 50-50 ratio of fats and meat, the meat is 丝丝分明. Drizzle some special red bean sauce or if you're a spice-lover, go ahead to drizzle some dark soy sauce dipped in chilli padi. Perfect pair with the crunchy par-boiled rice.
First main to the table was an individual serving of Claypot rice topped with assorted mushrooms. Suitable for kids (if they love mushrooms), or if you're just not feeling very meaty that day but still
wna have some warm Claypot rice to fill the tummy (cos it's the rainy season!).
The interesting part is, they specially concocted a dark soy sauce to pair with their modern-fusion claypot rice - a red bean-based dark soy sauce with garlic and shaoxing wine. Yes, RED BEAN! You wouldn't have guessed how great it matched with their rice. (More about the rice coming up!) - till my tablemates asked if I really liked the red bean sauce woops.🙊
Best pal to beer, the thickly-cut & freshly fried luncheon fries were first to be served to the table. The lime mayonnaise that accompanied was indeed it's best partner! We were all amazed by the lime mayonnaise as it totally neutralises out the oiliness of the luncheon fries and mayonnaise, and further brought out a refreshing Thai taste to the popular side.
Lychee taste was fantastic, but yoghurt taste was lacking - kinda think I was actually having lychee ice blended? Probably the lychee taste covered the yoghurt but there was definitely yoghurt in it - Koreans don't like their yoghurt (Yakult to them) to taste strong anyway. Favourite drink of the night 🍹

Sweet potato lover woohoo~
Really thin layer of pizza with a thin spread of mashed yellow sweet potatoes with a protective layer of cheeeeeese. Served with whipped cream, yes you roll it up too, and dip into the whip cream and nom it like how you eat a corndog.
Not kidding but, my nickname is Ro and coincidentally this is actually one of my favourites, surprisingly. Because I'm not a cream pasta person. However, this pink sauce or combination of cream and tomato base really caught me by surprise. Remember to share this HAHAHA otherwise you might end up wasting food.

This Alfredo-Jjamppong hybrid was really thick and made the chewy wheat noodles look like spaghetti hahahaha. If you wna snap a photo of your food, I would advise you do a quick one before your noodles soak up the wetness of the sauce, leaving you with dry and clingy noodles.
I thought it would be nice to include some mushrooms too so it'll feel more alfredo-ish hehe.

Been in Korea for months and I've always seen ade on the menu and I have never tried it before since plain water is basically the only drink I consume.
They serve 500ml & 1litre portions so it's good for sharing definitely! Not sure about the contents but it's prolly soda drink with some grapefruit drink mix (like the Yuzu kind you always see people buy from Korea). But surprisingly I kept going for it although I'm typically not the type who would drink while eating also.

Other than eating, it's me being hungry.
