Yum Yum In My Tum Tum
Cottontail offers a range of ice cream to be paired w your waffle or crepe. Tried the cottontail cookies and cream w waffles, and it came pretty promptly. The chocolate sauce is really gao and fragrant, not like those usual chocolate syrup. The ice cream is nice, but would have preferred a stronger vanilla taste (ice cream taste a bit bland/plain). Waffle came lukewarm, which I appreciate but was also abit quizzical about. It is abit too soft for my liking, but taste wise is good. Will come back to try other ice cream and the brunch sets (which is only starting tmr).
Randomly found this soba shop near the hostel I’m staying and mum decided to go in.
As it was a really small eatery, the chef was very personalised in his service. Oh, ask for the English menu and just point to him what you want! :)
She ordered a Chicken Udon (¥580) and I had a Okinawa Soba (¥480). It didn’t take long for the noodles to be cooked and the chef didn’t just pass it to us over the counter, but personally brought it to our seats.
The soup was really good. One of the best soba soup I’ve had, that mum and I gulped down everything.
Chicken from Chicken Udon was so-so, nothing fantastic, but the pork in the Okinawa Soba... oh gosh. Although the fatty area looks... fatty.. as I personally don’t like fatty meat, it didn’t taste fatty at all and was really fragrant. I enjoyed savouring every bite of it.
The only sad part was... there was only 1 piece of the pork (I reckon its Agu Pork, Okinawa’s own specialty) and the handmade (I think) noodles were a tad hard. Would have appreciate softer noodles. But can’t complain, it was good enough.
Just saw on the website (https://www.plat-okinawa.jp/shop/jurian/) that it is possible to order the Okinawa Soba with more pieces of meat. Def would do that the next time!
Went to Man Man at 11.30am and thankfully, there was no queue. Food came really quick and was really elated to try the unagi and real wasabi. Real wasabi is 👍🏻👍🏻. Unagi wasn’t as sweet as those sold in other places, so the taste was really authentic. It was crispy also, so the 口感 was good. I loved to have mixed it with dashi soup. Miso soup on the side was very nice too. Oh, and the tea that was complimentary is very very very nice too. But I’m unsure if I will come back if I will need to queue. Nice trying once in a blue moon!
Sweet Little Rain ($9.80)
Ordered a Rosy Nose ($9.80), Salmon & Dill Quiche ($7), Salted Caramel Cheesecake ($7) and Galaxy Rainbow Cheesecake ($8).
The Rosy Nose has a light tinge of rose flavor before I released the test tube of espresso in, would have appreciate a stronger rose flavor. Xiao ex for a drink, but okay, your marketing gimmick not bad.
Salmon & Dill Quiche was okay, salmon chunks in it was generous. Taste good enough too.
Salted Caramel Cheesecake was really good and flavorful, love it that the cheese was gao gao. So in comparison, the rainbow cheesecake is lighter in flavor and taste. If eat salted caramel cheesecake only will gelat, so I guess it was a good pair.
Atmosphere was rlly good in there though. The seats were spacious, it was peaceful though there was a constant crowd. Would definitely come back to unwind on a lazy day.
Honestly, I was contemplating to spend $12 on a sandwich.. like how well can a sandwich be right?! WRONG. Had a fried egg power ($12 before GST) which was, well, powerful. The cheese, the sauce, the bacon, the tater tots in it. Tastebud explosion. Flat white is okayyy, but surprisingly strong enough to suddenly perk me up. Would come back to try the cheese steak!
Ordered the deluxe buffet ($57.4 for 2 pax; after payment w fave & promo code!). Was firstly amazed that its a charcoal mookata; secondly amazed that the meat were all very well marinated and fresh; thirdly amazed that the seafood is very fresh. And pleasantly surprised about the thai iced milk tea. Satisfied dinner! 👍🏻
Visited The Habitat at 6.30pm and surprised that there was hardly any customer (I recalled my last visit 2 years back, and it was crowded). Ordered a scone and flat white ($8.4) for before dinner (xiao hungry while waiting for friend). Pleasantly surprised that the scone was soft and yummy; while flat white is just nice - not too acidic, and quite tasteful. Will go back for a nice teabreak again, hopefully soon!
Its a rainy day and I rlly wanted something warm, so had this Salmon Mentaiyaki ($13.6). The amount of mentaiko sauce is just nice for the salmon and overall, it taste good, but would have appreciated if there were abit more roe in the mentaiko sauce for the crunch. Sushiro still hasn’t failed after so long!
