Situated along Purvis St is YY Kafei Dian, selling a few types of Singaporean breakfast foods like bee hoon, kaya buns, as well as a range of colourful kueh! We had their signature kaya bun and bee hoon with some commonly seen add-ons 😆
I quite enjoyed how the outer crust of the bun was crisp, while the insides remained soft and chewy. Kaya and butter also blended really well! Despite the bee hoon being rather simple with generic add-ons like fried egg and fishcake, the texture of the bee hoon was perfectly chewy and the chilli was delicious! The only thing that was disappointing was my diluted milo 😔
Some tips though, head down early to avoid ever-growing queues and they actually have two different queues for bee hoon and toast! The queue for toast is further inside the shop, while the queue for bee hoon (which is really the one that catches attention) snakes outside and along the pavement! We got there at about 9 in the morning and there was already a pretty long queue 😅 Nevertheless, wouldn’t mind going back again if I’m craving for some kaya buns! 🍞
A 30 mins wait for the pancake. But quite worth the wait because the pancake is very fluffy and nice. The strawberries and blackberries are very sour. It is good.
More than enough if you have small eaters.
Ordered 7 pieces of YTF and bee hoon ($4.80). As highlighted by other reviews, the must-order pieces are the meatball and mushroom. The chilli sauce was really good so I'd recommend ordering the dry version and spamming the chilli sauce. Cheap and delicious - one of the top 5 YTFs for sure. I'll definitely be back!
In this first collaborative mash up, Artichoke and Joo Bar teamed up to present the best of Middle Eastern and Korean flavours over the past two Sundays! The four mains featured here are Crabbibi (soy-marinated crab & maple-infused bacon with za'atar crouton & kimchi), Arti-Joo Fried Chicken, Pig Bang (Bossam-style braised pork sandwiched in pita bread), and Lambbokki (pulled lamb shoulder & fried tteokbokki in gochujang gravy).
My top pick goes to the shish taouk fried chicken. Coated with rice flour and deep-fried to crisp perfection, the lemon juice and yoghurt used in the marinade not only tenderised the meat, but also kept it juicy and flavourful. What really wowed us was the garlicky and deliciously potent toum dip! Make this dish a permanent on the menu, please! #AnnyeongHabibi

Have been an avid fan of their salted egg yolk mochi bursts for a while now and am always on the lookout for the monthly flavour changes (earl grey and taro milk tea this time) always been a lover of earl grey flavoured ice cream/soft serve but when my fav place to get it closed down I’ve since not had it till now, and let me tell you this is THE best earl grey flavoured dessert I’ve ever tasted - not to heavy/bitter and makes you want to keep going back for more. Perfectly complimented the mochi bursts as they were warm and chewy. Highly recommend to everyone seeking out a new dessert in sg other than the usual waffle with ice cream combo!
