Situated just 2 mins away from AMK Hub, Coffee Tribe is a hole-in-the-wall eatery for traditional kopi, teh, toast and hot dishes like dimsum and rice bowls. My parents enjoy their coffee ($1.50), which is thick and aromatic, and I like their no-frills Tuna Onion Sandwich ($5 with coffee/tea) that they packed full of tuna and toasted till crisp.

Nothing is fancy here, just good ol' local delights set in a cute tribal-themed cafe. As I dig into my Soft Boiled Eggs with Traditional Toast ($3.80 with coffee/tea), I overheard another customer commenting that the Nonya Mee Siam ($3.90) is delicious. Do give your support to this humble family-owned business!

This cafe is not the easiest to access, but it's one where you'll want to head to for a peaceful and relaxing nook. Bread Créateur specialises in artisan breads and croissant varieties, so don't come here if you're looking for cakes and ice cream!

For first timers who wants a taste of everything, get the Chocolate Almond Banana ($4.50) - essentially a combo of their Pain aux Chocolate ($4.50), Chocolate Banana ($5) and Almond Croissant ($4). You get a bit of the flakiness from the croissant layers, slight bitterness from the Belgium chocolate, and sweetness from the marzipan and sliced bananas. It's great, but I'll stick to a single full-fledged flavour the next time because there's too little of every component 😂

The Charcoal Bacon and Cheese ($5.50) is a good savoury option, with a chewy bread and salty bacon and cheese for pleasure, but the charcoal is rather redundant and I'd like the exterior a little crispier.

Much like a Toast Box or Wang Cafe, Brown Sugar offers your usual kopi and toasts with a few mains.

The Sesame Chicken Rice Bowl ($7.80) has nothing to shout about, though the chicken is tender, flavourful and reminiscent of your mum's/grandma's cooking. The Truffle Noodle Drunken Chicken ($8.80) is something special - the chicken was served cold and redolent of Chinese wine, while the broad noodles were cooked al-dente and tossed in truffle oil and dark soy sauce. The chewy texture of the noodles made it a joy to eat, and that wee bit of truffle scent acted like a teaser - I just had to keep eating to savour more truffle.

Thanks to Burpple Beyond for the 1-for-1 deal!

This is another hearty and beautiful dish by Craftsmen. Once again, everything is generous, generous and generous. The brioche is thick, the smashed avo is satisfyingly creamy, the smoked salmon ain't a pathetic 2-slice, and everything is drenched in their signature sauce that I love most about this dish - it's tangy with mild kicks of spice, which works great for providing a flavour boost.

When you can't decide on what to get from their extensive menu (it's worse when everything sounds delicious), the Craftsmen Full Veggie Breakfast sans processed meat is your best bet. With 2 eggs of choice on toast, sauteed mushrooms, grilled halloumi (argh so good), baked beans, tomato salsa, smashed avocado (oh they're generous with it) and salad in balsamic olive dressing, this dish is bound to fill you up and leave you belly happy.

This is $22 or $24 if I'm not wrong, but it's gonna be worth your money.

Definitely one of the better ones from a cafe, the waffles here at C Plus are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. With their ice cream from @icecreamcookieco, I'd totally recommend topping up for a scoop or two (they're generous with it btw) for an ultimate warm-meets-cold indulgence.

From @101weis2bake, this humming bird cake is incredibly moist and downright satisfying. Nothing is stingy here; each layer of cake comes a chock-full of ingredients like pecans, pineapples and banana, spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, making each mouthful an explosion of flavours and textures. Frosted with tangy cream cheese, it's pure bliss.

P.S. A slice of this is very filling, you'll have to share it (but nobody will judge if you have it as a meal).

C+ is a cosy cafe with an interesting concept - they bring together local creators to establish a community within their space. Homebakers, such as @101weis2bake and @petitejoybakes, are supplying some of their best-selling cakes to the cafe, and Singapore-based floral studio @inashea takes up a space in their cafe too!

The Heartbeet Cake ($7.80) is a gluten-free creation by Masterchef Singapore finalist @gen_lxn. The flourless chocolate cake is soft and contains a chock-full of shredded beetroot. Covered with a layer of avocado cocoa frosting, the acquired taste and texture takes a while to get used to, but I can foresee the health-conscious individuals enjoying this! Tried her gluten-free Carrot Cake ($7.80) and it's pretty good too!

With a menu that changes weekly, it may be difficult to catch some of your desired cakes from the bakers. Some of the best-sellers include pies ($7) from @elijahpies, Ondeh Ondeh Cake ($7.50) from @beelibakes, and their made-in-house Buttermilk Waffles ($10 w/ single scoop ice cream).

Snagged two mains at the price of one with Burpple Beyond! The Croque monsieur came larger and heartier than expected. Topped with lotsa cheese, this turkey ham sandwich the length of the plate's diameter is pure shiokness and very value-for-money. And so is the Smoked Salmon Lemon Carbonara (back, $18) - nothing to rave about for the thin salmon, but I personally like the rich cream sauce that has a mild, citrusy tang.

For the simple reason of easy consumption, I always preferred smashed to sliced avocados because the latter tend to slide away. Hence, I really enjoyed this smashed avo toast from Maxi. It's slightly unfortunate that the feta was almost nonexistent, but the sprinkle of dried chilli flakes added lovely pops of heat to the otherwise bland avocado. Love the crunch from the pumpkin seeds and crusty toast too!

Possibly the best truffle dish I've ever tasted so far. Macaroni tossed in creamy cheese bechamel and mozzarella, shiitake mushrooms that imparted an earthy and umami flavour, breadcrumbs that provided an interesting crunch to this otherwise mooshy dish, and a liberal dash of truffle oil for good aroma. You may be tempted to have the whole dish to yourself, but I'd recommend sharing because it gets pretty jelat after a while.

P.S. Note that this is an event catering, so the presentation and quantity may differ.

Never a fan of fried chicken, but I actually love these from On The Table. The battered fried chicken were addictively crispy, and the spices gave another dimension of flavour to the otherwise sweet-only wings.

P.S. The Fried Tortilla Chips ($10) at the back is another fun snack to munch on too!
