Greens And Grains
This Hong Kong ice cream chain specialising in Japanese purple yam soft serve has finally set up shop at Square 2 in Novena. There are two flavours of their smooth soft serve available — Japanese sea salt and their famed purple yam. If it's your first time, taste it all with the Small Potato Party ($9.50), which sees a cup of yam soft serve topped with yam chunks, yam paste, azuki beans, warabi mochi, crispy rice and a purple potato stick. The portion is considerably small for its size, so when we return, we're ordering the more wallet-friendly cone (from $5 for a single flavour, or $5.50 for mixed flavours). We heard that the yam and sea salt ice cream go really well together!
Avg price: $5 to $10 per person

Because I wanted to try this after hearing so much raves.
I chose Yasai (SGD16) which consisted of salmon poke mixed with soy sauce and ponzu sauce, with balsamic tomatoes, mixed sultanas and onsen egg. I topped up with Ninja rice (SGD2) which is a blend of vinegared Japanese pearl rice and brown rice with seaweed flakes.
I love this! Such a beautifully plated dish which is yummy and healthy! 😋😋
A Poke Theory doesn't just stop at serving Poke Bowls; they also serve Superfood Smoothie Bowls which you can also go for if you are craving for a sweet yet healthy treat after your meal. Think of these as unsweetened smoothies that is served the same way as an Acai Bowl — this one has Banana, Raspberry, Soy Milk mixed with toppings such as pomegranate, coconut chips and sunflower seeds. The tart flavours of the raspberry gets a little sweetened by the bananas — the entire bowl though felt pretty much guiltless for you don't really taste much of any added sugar; just the sweetness and flavours of the fruits. The toppings help add different dimensions of flavour, and the sunflower seeds definitely gives it a little bit of crunch!
