Delicious Tempura Don
At just $13 for this huge bowl of chirashi, this must be one of the best steals in town. Good quantity of fish!!
Unfortunately, if you are looking for something of a higher quality, you would have to look elsewhere as the fish can get a tad rubbery and it lacks the freshness that higher quality fish possess.
All in all a value for money place... that is if you can put with something of a lower quality!
Price: $12.80. Add $5 if you want to complete the set with miso soup, salad, and 3 pieces of salmon sashimi. The verdict is that this chirashi don is extremely value for money and I would totally visit it again if I am in the area. They gave a really generous helping of sashimi that has been pre-soaked, which was just right as it didn't turn out too salty. The variety of sashimi is also amazing for its price (just look at the photo)!
Price:$15. Might be back again! This new tempura outlet at suntec is rival of the established ginza brand in tanjong pagar. On its own, this tempura Don is absolutely value for money. You get a wide selection -- chicken, prawn, squid, corn and a few others. And it was well fried and the sauce was ok great. Nothing much I can fault. Especially at an economical price of $15. However, it pales a little in comparison to the ginza one which is marginally cheaper. Unlike the ginza one, this kohaku tempura Don doesn't come with the tempura egg (which is a serious plus point IMO), the chawamushi and miso soup. Taste wise, both are comparable, though it might ultimately boil down to preference. The tempura for this shop is more 'sauce-drenched' whereas the one in ginza is more fried. Though of course I'm quite sure that this can be varied if u were to specially request otherwise.
