This, by far is our most underrated Japanese izakaya. Prices are within the affordable range and their menus were all in Japanese until they realized that they should add in English translations for customers like us 😂 Uni, tamagoyaki, ikura and fresh thick slices of scallops, yellowtail, snapper, tuna, mackerel, octopus were overflowing the bowl. We had to share one bowl of chirashi as we also had the Mentaiko pasta (their portions are 👍🏼). We assure you that you wouldn’t be disappointed if you’re looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in town.

These are the words that pop into our heads as we savor every bite of the sweetbread. Surprisingly, being an offal, it does not have a musty smell or taste. 😊
Really enjoyed the atmosphere at Claypots Seafood where there was a chill live band playing and people dancing along at the bar. Also, every table had a huge fish for dinner but our stomachs were too stuffed to try it. Maybe it’s astoundingly fresh, we’ll never know haha

The traditional one was good no doubt with a crunchy exterior but it lacks the aroma from butter. The macadamia, on the other hand, was filled with macadamia frangipane and was really amazing! The first few bites were great, with the fragrance from the nuts and the frangipane but we got a little sick of it after because it’s pretty sweet. Just be prepared to share!

No surprise there! ☺️

Crab Boil (300-400g of crab with corn, potatoes, spicy pork sausage) AUD27.00
The barramundi had a rather fishy taste which was washed away with a few squeezes of the lemon. The snapper, however, was already good on its own. No need for extra condiments. It’s fresh and sweet with the light crispy batter. Enjoy your meal under the hot sun as the weather’s still cold especially when the wind blows!

Our grass fed, dry aged for 60 days porterhouse came with a juicy pink center and it melts like butter in the mouth. The sauce with natural juices from the beef was the highlight as it elevated the flavours of the already succulent steak. Where would you get this quality at this price in Singapore’s restaurants?

Prices may be a little steeper but the charcoal grilllll and pork bone soup was so good! The meat was soft and fatty and pork broth together with the korean chili paste and flakes gave it really complex flavors! Slurped everything up in no time 😋

Really loving the convenience of hawker food at our fingertips and the occasional discounts that @whyqsg throws in

At that point in time, the baked potato with sour cream, chives and bacon bits were everything to us so we decided to visit them again one decade later to bring back the memories. The steaks at Jack’s Place are still tender and cooked to the right temperature. For their price with @entertainersg, we still think it’s a pretty decent dinner.
