With its happy, pastel-coloured interior and choice light bites, Food Foundry makes the perfect spot for a teatime date. Come with the gang for a pre-dinner treat, starting with the popular Mille Crepe (from RM11). Flavours differ day-to-day depending on availability but the Original and Salted Caramel are especially yummy. For the rest who don't have a sweet tooth, share the sinful yet heavenly Cheese Curry Fries (RM12). The thick cut fries are slathered in curry sauce and a melted layer of cheese, and are super addictive to snack on. Perhaps also binge on a Hot Fried Chicken (RM19) — two pieces of delicious, hot sauce marinated chicken to get your appetite going for dinner!

While their claim to fame is an elusive Salted Egg Yolk Cronut (RM11) that sells out incredibly early, Dotty's has a lot more to offer. Try the Strawberry Cheesetart (RM10) in which strawberries lend their refreshing tanginess to the cream cheese filling. This upscale bakery and cafe imports all their tableware so anytime you need an inspiring backdrop (or an Instagram-worthy table shot), drop in with a friend or the spouse for morning treats on fancy plates! If you're more keen on savouries, save this spot for the weekend special — a monstrously delicious Soft Shell Crab Burger (RM32).

TTDI residents often flock to this neighbourhood coffee joint for a morning pick-me-up and we'll recommend you do the same before the workday begins! You can't go wrong with the Eggs & Toast Set (RM15), which sees simple yet hearty scrambled eggs on toast served with sliced cheddar and tomato salsa on the side. To get you revving in the morning, the set comes with your choice of Long Black or Long Red (red tea). Another irresistible breakfast item is the homey Avocado Toast (RM8) — mashed avocado spread on toast with Marmite and red cabbage. On your way out, deeply inhale the invigorating whiff of coffee for some extra fuel!

A frontrunner for healthy eats in the vicinity, Pickle & Fig makes a fit lunch spot with a friend after an early gym sesh. Take your pick of handcrafted paninis and gourmet sandwiches from the chalkboard menu. The crowd favourite is the Coronation Chicken (RM18) that pairs sliced chicken breast with alfalfa sprouts between ciabatta bread. It may sound a little too healthy for your taste, but the yummy "coronation sauce" and a side of potato wedges will change your mind. Alternatively, attempt a Goji Me (RM14) smoothie and let the winning combination of strawberries, goji berries, apple, pineapple and yoghurt fill you up.

Decked out in rustic walls and stylish furniture, bakery-cafe Frisky Goat makes a great laidback bet for a dinner date. Get the waiter-recommended Loaded Omelette (RM18.90) for a cheesy, fluffy egg dish that's sure to please, or go for the scrumptious Waffle Sandwich (RM22) — crispy waffles packed with fried chicken, bacon and fried egg, all drizzled with sweet maple syrup. Wash it all down with a drink from their varied bottle beer selection (from RM14).

Located in central TTDI along Jalan Aminuddin Baki, Chequers serves an array of both sweet and savoury waffles. Come with a few friends to get your spirits lifted after a long morning class. Local snack "pisang goreng" (banana fritters) sports an interesting twist in Melting Moments (RM17) next to delectable chocolate chip waffle and vanilla ice cream. Waffles aside, the spicy, refreshing Mango Shrimp Wrap (RM23) is a top choice but even that comes with waffle fries!

Nailing the perfect chillout late night vibes with their enviable indie playlist and friendly (and good looking) baristas, Thursdvys is TTDI's haven for night owls. Coffee here will you keep you up with its sweet and intense ristretto base (as opposed to the regular espresso) in Aussie-style servings of between three to nine ounces. For the benefit of those with the munchies, the cafe serves a to-die-for Mac And Cheese (RM12) and an adorably named Puffin' (RM5.30) — warm and rich chocolate muffin covered in ice cream and a brownie top. The windowsill seats are pillow talk material so while you may have outgrown sleepovers, here's a nook to have a heart-to-heart with your girlfriend like old times!
