Glorious, glorious T-bone steak from Valentino's - cooked to a perfect medium rare. Each piece is incredibly tender with a nice amount of fat that just melts in your mouth.
added carrots and splash of white wine to the onions for that extra sweetness and flavor. gosh, need so many more buttered toasts to soak up everything.
The meringue stood out for being different your typical Swiss roll. The salted caramel less so but was still decent.
Seasalt Chocolate Tart with Coffee Cream ($5) & Flat White ($5 nett). Easily polished off the rich and crumbly chocolate tart myself and washed down with a medium bodied flat white.

I usually favour savoury food for brunch but this was da bomb. Soft fluffy French toast with crispy edges, caramelised bananas, and tangy Greek yogurt to cut through the decadence. Best thing was the crispy cereal bits that added crunch and just that bit of salt that really allowed all the flavours to pop. Could have done without the flowers though, since they didn't add anything to what was an already very pretty dish.
Happy treats! My favourite has gotta be the sweet, milky and tart strawberry popsicle, with the creamy durian one a close second!
If I am in that rare mood to start my day on the right note (my default breakfast setting tends to be stuck on greasy local delights like "char beehoon" and "wanton mee" 😁😁 ), this new-ish item at The Lokal is actually the ideal thing for me. The portion is small but oh boy, it sure is packed to the gills with healthy goodness. I tried the version with fermented bananas and loved the refreshing coldness of the fruit (it had been soaked in buttermilk). Just so you know, they also offer a mixed fruit salad one if bananas aren't your thing. I reckon this would make a perfect snack after a yoga or workout session as well.
Duck confit had very crispy skin and the meat inside was moist and flavorful. Appreciated the tangy honey mustard sauce which cut through the oiliness of the duck. Would be perfect if there were more greens on the plate. One of my favorite dinner item at Lola's.
One of the bar bites we tried at Mariko's, a Japanese inspired bar-restaurant nestled along Jiak Chuan Road.
While there are hits & misses, we concur that Mariko's is a good place to chill and have after-dinner tipples and light bites.
PS: Try the Takoyaki Croquettes if you are there!
One of those simple breakfast staples that warms the heart. Comes with a side of milk to adjust the temperature and consistency of the oats to your liking. Although the brunch menu at Punch is limited, I certainly enjoyed this bowl of oats and sweet bananas… reminds me of home in Oz.
