If you ever find yourself in Vivocity and are craving for authentic, affordable no-frills Japanese udon or grilled meat donburis, I urge you to make your way to Washoku Goen in Food Republic. The substantial serving of beef was imbued with the smokiness imparted by fire and unctuous with meaty flavour, deftly handled by the burly, heavily tattooed headband wearing Japanese cook behind the grill station. You can't see it buried beneath the beef mountain, but the rice is excellent Japanese short grain. Pay $1 extra to get a runny egg and some tasty kelp soup, then pile on the free spring onion and tempura batter.
Plus surprise, it comes with a tempura egg!
