If you head to South of California away from SF, a good stop over for brunch/lunch is Dim Sum King. Traditional tea house concept with dim sum trolleys. It’s perfect for family/ friends. Prices start from us$3.50 for a small plate.
In the financial district of SF, you will find many eateries but mostly do not have much sit down space. Many peeps working at FiDi choose to order packed food back to their office. At Mixt, you choose your vegetable base, 5 toppings and sauce. They toss it up for you at 9.90 (+8.5% tax= >$10) It’s pretty tasty but the toppings are pretty small chunks, making it a pricey lunch option. But most food in SF is expensive anyway.
Fast food is cheap in US, but if you want to exp cheap fast food, SF is not the place. 😂 A bacon king burger ( double beef patty & bacon) meal plus fish burger plus a garden salad would set us back by close to USD$30. 🤷🏻♀️ Pretty decent beef patties but other than that nothing to shout about.
Except if you’re caught in the pumpkin festival, then you’re pretty out of luck on finding seats...

So I was informed that it will be a 1.5 - 2 hours wait. And when we tried asking how many ppl are there ahead of us. Her reply was “I previously quoted you a 1.5-2hrs wait right. It has only been 10 mins” 🙄😰 (maybe Californians are just not so nice?)

.
That was when we decided to do a take out and eat in the car. Since it will be a 1 hr drive back to SF anyway. When we brought all the packed food back to the car an was preparing to eat. We got a message saying our table is ready 🙄🙄 so it was more like a 45 mins - 1hr wait. There was a flicker of doubt on whether we should bring all the packed food in and sit at the table. Then we decided not to.

🍴
Nevertheless, food was pretty good. Though it was $150 for a squeezy dinner in the car(would have been more ex if we had to tip 😛)

Lobster roll was slightly different from what we are used to with mayo and all. The lobster is hot and buttered with celery and all. 🤤

🍴
Clam chowder stayed surprisingly warm throughout the whole meal and was great with the sour dough bread given!
.
🍴
Crab cakes was like pure crab meat lightly seasoned and no other fillers!
.
🍴
Well definitely no regrets for having a slightly uncomfortable dinner 😂

I will definitely recc going to #barbocce if you are visiting Sausalito.

When I ordered the calamari, I was expecting fried calamari. You know typical small bites style. Instead, it’s calamari cooked in salsa and tossed w cous cous. Imagine chewy fresh calamari in a slightly spicy tangy sauce. Sooooo good 🤤
.
🍴
Mushroom crostini was also amaze balls. Creamed mushrooms on top of a sour dough bread then topped with fried mushrooms!
.
🍴
Prosciutto pizza, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside and fresh thinly sliced prosciutto. Nuff said.
.
🍴
Also while eating, you can put your name down for a game of bocce. Makes for a good bonding activity with your eating companions. 😊

It is not hard to find a Chinese restaurant in US, and especially easy in SF. However to be able to find a quality Chinese restaurant that is not tweaked to suit American taste is difficult.

At the garden restaurant, they do it hearty zi char style. What’s even better is the exceptional service where they always give free desserts at the end of your meal. We got a tasty green bean soup w dried orange peel! 😋

These clams are amazing, plus at $15 for one, it’s quite a steal! This is considered 3, where 2 side makes up 1.

Farm to table concept means super fresh vegetables and meat. 🤤🤤 The freshly dried raisins free from sulphites really makes a difference in the salad! Kale salad tossed in a sherry-basil vinaigrette, making it light and refreshing. Marinated roasted beets and fresh goat cheese really completes the flavours of the salad. .
🍴
Fresh rolled linguine and middleneck clam. This was perfect in terms of flavour balance and textures. 🤤 Fennel cream is slightly tangy, slightly salty without being too heavy. Linguine was topped with Parmesan, homemade chorizo and French radish(this was amazing). 😋

Being in an alley also means that it’s a nice hideout away from the hustle of the main street. Definitely come here for good food and cosy ambience!

If flaky crust and sweet pudding like egg is your thing, this is the egg tart for you. I would recc it if you intend to stay in SF for long and miss having egg tarts. But if you’re here for a short trip, you should give it a miss. Crazy lines all day everyday.
And thus he calls it “going to church” because he literally goes there every Sunday.

Homemade egg noodles (aka mee pok) does not have the slight lye taste that exist in the commercial mee pok we have back home! Bouncy and springy, add chili and vinegar and it becomes even more awesome. I never thought I would be having mee pok in America butttt yes it happened. They are always packed on weekends but the turnover rate is quite fast. Their hor fun is pretty good too but not as smooth as silky as what we can find back home.

This place is opened by Vietnamese Teochews which explains the name. The portions are huge and cost about $10-15 dollars each. In SF, this is as cheap as you can find!

Tony was the first American to win the world champion pizza maker. You would know why when you eat his pizza. It's not paper thin like NY pizza and it's not thick and doughy like italian pizza. It's is thin enough to be crunchy on the exterior but thick enough to still have a chewy interior. The tomato paste used is also very fresh and tasty. Once you start, you can't stop. If you don't want a whole pizza, the slice shop is to the right of the restaurant.
One of the most popular item here is morning bun. It's somewhat like a cinnamon roll but made of flaky croissant pastry and not as cloyingly sweet.the exterior is crispy and the part that protrudes out has a slightly chewy texture and has hints of citrus plus cinnamon. It's really v good! They have quiche and tarts here too that I would have ordered if I have 2 stomachs.
A korean-Mexican fusion kinda place. The beef was tasty and the tacos was good, although I won't say it really goes well together. The bulgogi beef did go well w the mango salsa and wasabi mayo though!
