Salted egg yolk custard cronut by Dotty's. For RM11, you not only get a decent size cronut topped with salted egg yolk custard, you get more, yes MORE, custard in between the deep fried buttery layers of puff pastry!! It's salted egg yolk custard, what could go wrong?? Take not that they have serve their cronuts according to their scheduled batch due to the constant high demand, so either be mentally prepared to wait for a long time or time your visit there beforehand! Oh my little deep fried bundle of joy, I'll see you soon.
Located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, this hidden gem of TTDI offers a wide range of pastries from classic French such and Choux pastries and Chelsea buns, to modern day delights such as rocky road brownies and spiced apple cake with caramel buttercream!! My personal favorite would be the Dark Chocolate Choux a la Creme and the Magherita pizza. The choux pastry is encrusted with what seems to be a sablĆ©e and filled with Chantilly cream and chocolate Chantilly cream, then garnished with dark chocolate chips š. Nice and light in the inside and a slight crunch on the outside!! As for the Magherita pizza, the base it a thin crispy crust and its topped with a reasonable amount of cheese, basil, onions and three different types of tomatoes. As much as I loved their pizza, I kinda wish the pizza was topped with more basil š . The only problem I seem to have was that I couldn't stop thinking about having more š!! I'm definitely coming back for more!!
After reading mixed reviews about the Panna Cotta, the burpple tastemakers thought we would give it a shot. In my humble opinion, not only did I thought some of the reviews were wrong, the panna cotta was best amongst all the desserts we had. I could already tell that the panna cotta was smooth and creamy when I digged in for my first bite because my spoon just slides through the dessert like a hot knife on butter. The sourness of the local passion fruit not only compliments the smooth creamy sweetness of the panna cotta, it also gives it a nice refreshing kick and it makes you want to take another bite after each one!!
Not exactly the same as what I had the last time but it's probably because the staff there is still new. The refreshing taste of coconut really amazing!! That's because instead of water, they use real coconut water instead!! The only down side is that my shake wasn't blended long enough. I still had large ice crystals in my shake but taste wise, Sangkaya's coconut shake is spot on and definitely my go to drink on a hot sunny day š
Went to check out Softsrve to see what was all big hype about!! Not disappointed but not really that impressed as well. The softserve itself was pretty good but the cereal tasted kinda like crushed digestives mixed with honey coated cereal and for RM11, I kinda expected more. Nevertheless it was worth the try!!
Cravings satisfied!! After having to go on a diet for a month due to a competition, I've finally got my a taste of my two favourite nyonya dishes, Mee Siam and ABC! The Mee Siam was sour and spicy, kinda like Tomyam but not as spicy. Though a sprinkle of crispy fried onions would have made the dish better, the noodles were already good as it is. The ABC on the other hand was just the way I like it š, drenched in Gula melaka and flooded with cendol and kidney beans. The sweet refreshing taste of gula melaka mixed with shaved ice will make you crave for more!!
Mee Siam - RM3
ABC - RM5 (plus 6% tax)
I think the people who made this coconut ice cream is a terrorist, cause this is the BOMB!! Four scoops of Sangkaya's famous coconut ice cream topped with cereal, corn, nestum, toasted coconut and coconut flesh!! The ice cream itself comes with coconut flesh but the nice lady who served me gave me an extra topping since it was my day off š. The smooth, sweet, creamy, coconut-ty goodness of their signature ice cream will leave you begging for more!!
Today I revisited The Grumpy Cyclist in TTDI for some coffee and cookies!! Lucky for me, the cookies that I ordered were fresh from the box that was just delivered to them š! I had one of every cookie that they had, which is the chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal raisin cookie and what seems to be a double chocolate cookie with caramel and topped with sea salt. My personal favorite was double chocolate cookie, followed by the oatmeal raisin and the chocolate chip cookie. The double chocolate cookie was soft inside with a crunchy crust outside but the cookie was slightly dry. Nevertheless, it was still a nice piece of cookie and the pinch of sea salt on top really compliments the caramel filling inside!!
I hope everyone is having an awesome weekend so far š. Today I visited one of my favorite cafĆ©s in Damansara Jaya, The Bulb Coffee. Not only does Bulb Coffee serve food and coffee, they also organize parties, ukulele boot camps and make-up workshops!! Today, I tried their americano, the Bulb Butter Bread Chicken sandwich and their famous banana cheesecake. Their americano was not bad. It has a cocoa aroma and a bittersweet taste but it slowly turns acidic as it cools down. As for the chicken sandwich, it was plain, simple and nicely done. Three slices of bread with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, chicken ham, onions and thin spread of butter. However, the real star of the show was their banana cheesecake!! Cheese with chocolate chips and topped of with nuts and banana š. The banana cheesecake is a MUST try when you're in The Bulb Coffee š
Today, I stopped by @thursdvys to try out some of their savory desserts!! I sampled their banana pudding and ristretto with milk. Coffee was not bad but what stood out the most was the banana pudding. Creamy, sweet but yet the flavor of the banana is still surperiour. For those who happen to around TTDI, do stop by Thursdvy for some coffee and desserts. You won't regret it!! š
It may be expensive but it's definitely worth it if you find yourself craving for tarts!!
Churros dipped in chocolate and a cappuccino by San Churros in Melbourne.
@atyy73 opinion:-
AMAZING!!! The Churros was crispy on the outside and firm to the bite. It wasn't too soggy or greasy as well. The chocolate was a little too strong and sweet though. Definitely somewhere he would visit again!!
