Missing Japan and its food? One of my favourite haunts for authentic Japanese food is at Takashimaya Department Store, B2 where the Food Hall holds regular gourmet fairs.
This “Sakura Spring Celebration Fair” (from Sat 21 Feb to Sun 1 Mar 2015) will put together some of the best and well-loved food products, gathered from Japan’s various regions.
This is a preview of some of the food available. Hungry yet?
There is an easy going yet traditional charm about the restaurant, professional polite service, food was almost to the mark (slight imperfections) and the slight smell of wood from its furniture permeating.
Will be back. (Let me save up first though)
So funny. The @hungrygowhere folks are out in full force to get people to VOTE.... For their favourite restaurants and hawker stalls.
Nominees are based on search stats and ratings on HGW, but that can be changed. So Teppei is nominated for Best Japanese restaurant.
Quickly vote for your favs at HungryGoWhere.com (Looking at the nominees made me so hungry!)
Burnt ramen? Yeah, Gogyo’s specialty ‘burnt kogashi ramen’ has a miso or soy based broth cooked in 300°C lard. This unique soup base is heated in a wok, igniting orange flames in the kitchen.

First meal of the trip, Tempura!
This is one of the trips that I didn't plan (not sure if it's not enough time to plan or didn't want to plan), because I wanted to just relax, rest. I am sure I am find anything good at Osaka. おはよう大阪!
Other common fillings may be custard, chocolate, cheese, or sweet potato.
Taiyaki is made using regular pancake or waffle batter. The batter is poured into a fish-shaped mold for each side. The filling is then put on one side and the mold is closed. It is then cooked on both sides until golden brown. Watch the making!
Name means 'golden dragon'. The shop is easily found with a large dragon at the front, filled with slightly older men for a quick bite.
The best parts of the ramen is the soup, and free flow of kimuchi. Not the best ramen around, but a steal at 600 and 900 yen.
This is a ball-shaped Japanese snack with flour-based batter and filled with diced octopus (tako), brushed with takoyaki sauce,
At Dotonbori Konamon Museum. Not the best around, but satisfied my cravings.
Watch the making in this #instavideo See how quick they are!
