TH: Smittenangel's Bangkok Eat List
You WANT to love them 'cos they're so pretty but these milkshake are not only expensive but also horrible tasting. Think lukewarm milk froth instead of a real milkshake. Blech.
One of the many yakiniku places in thonglor- we only noticed it because Roast used to be in this building. Thb1400 Super gyu or the humble thb450 karubi ? Both are good actually (Wagyu is cut thinner and the karubi is chunky). Don't overcook the Wagyu though, it only needs a quick sear (Eat it while it's pink 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻) Good ventilation system too. [itinerary ideas: Walk to iron fairies after dinner for a drink]
Melon is better ! Sour plum is boring unless you haven't tried it before. Great place to unwind away from the madding crowd.
One of the most expensive pastas on the menu but well worth it with generous serving of scallop (not overcooked) and ebiko. Pasta done al dente the way I like it.
One of the most popular pad thai places in Bangkok - this is a huge restaurant with non stop action ! Basic pad thai is thb60 and this egg wrapped "super pad thai" is thb90. Extra thb10/pax if you sit inside (air conditioned). Great for late arrivals as it opens until 2am. Not the best in taste (a little too sweet for me) and a more expensive than the usual street stalls, but good reliable quality. Recommend taxi or car as there is no BTS nearby. Pro tip: Save some space for nearby Tee Yen Ta 4 noodle stall if you can.
Half-baked soft cookie, cookie crumbs and ice cream ? Yasssssss.
Finally get to see the gorgeous new space at The Commons. Same fabulous food. Despite the simple concept of the croque monsieur I have yet to find an edible one in SG so I always have it here. Remember to get your parking ticket stamped to get on-site parking at THB50/4hours.
Countless scoops of coconut ice cream with coconut flesh, glutinous rice and peanuts, served in a coconut shell. For a grand total of THB20 (SGD0.80). If you are ever in Pattaya for skydiving, be sure to look out for this motorbike cart (he comes by around noon!)
found this Siam Sq tiny stall in 2010 but haven't been able to locate it since, despite scouring all the sois in Siam Square. it's. I know it's a long shot but does anyone recognize ???? it sells a killer mama noodle salad.
one of my fave somtam stalls, I usually have the swimmer crab version (not the same as salted crab version). I find the somtam here better than the exalted som tam paradise in Siam square.
one of the best tomyam soups i have had in bangkok with the perfect balance of all the elements (spicy sweet sour salty). just the right amount of coconut milk too.
monster oysters w thai style condiments: chilli sauce, thai green chilli, fried shallots, some green thing which i can't identify. those not blessed with third world stomach should probably avoid though.
