Things You Won't Put In Your Mouth Again😝💩
Not sure what meat those were but it was an utterly aweful plate of disappointment.... zuk zuk zuk...
Was already suspicious this was not the original stall. It looks nice but unfortunately taste wise I will not give a second chance.
The description on the menu is rather confusing naming this as "boiled" dumpling (which is usually referring to Sui Gyoza/ 餃子)when it is actually a bowl of 9 regular wantons with pork fillings. The first bite, texture of the skin is smooth, filling is flavourful, but wait... I bite onto something sharp and hard. A 0.7cm white "stick" I spat out. I try a second, this time a 0.3cm "stick". It's getting more exciting than catching a Pokemon, as my streak persist for the next 2 wantons. Decided to raise it to the kitchen staff across the open kitchen. "Maybe it's the bone of anchovy/fried fish, that we use for flavour was not grinded well!" he exclaims as he picks up the "stick" and much to my dismay threw it away and carried on his kitchen duties. As a matter of principles, they should have suggested replacing the bowl of $6 wanton or show some concern on the matter. This has certainly left an impression!
Not sure if the item was feature to compliment the colour theme in the cafe, bright yellow, black and earth toned wood. Apart from this, there is nothing worth talking about this item. Next...
Haven't added items to this category for a while. This signature item here, arguably, is not so impressive. Yes the scrambled egg is huge (concealing the entire croissant) and looks impressive! However, I'm sure some would agree you'd had better scrambled eggs (probably at an establishment beginning with the capital M). These are "solid" looking and really hardened somehow which is not exactly the texture you'd be looking for in scrambled eggs. Try their other much better items like pulled pork pappardelle and pork belly ciabatta.
Have not posted in this category for a while now. I take that as an indication that I have reliable recommendations from my fellow burpplers on my food exploration. This cafe in the heartland was a little exploration down memory lane as I used to hang around Bukit Merah. However, I was really disappointed when their cakes were not fresh. Texture was dry and tough, obvious from leaving the sliced cake in the display fridge for too long. The prices are also over kill for their set up, which left us really really disappointed.
So disappointing. The first time The Lokal has disappointed. There is another ingredient which I've forgotten. It's just to weird and the texture becomes too moist.
Not sure if I read the menu wrongly. This is a terrible carbonara. Did I order carbona-soup?
Saying this has just too much "wok hei" is an understatement. The Teochew call it "chao huay tah"(臭火干), the burnt kuay teow is the only dish that disappoint.
Obviously this can't be served. Seriously, the ambience and service is right, but an overhaul is much needed for the food. This lasagne is literally wet & juicy not in the right way.
Either the chef was intoxicated or my drinks are playing up. This dish was horrendous and pales so much in comparison with any other items we had here. Bland, poor texture, poor presentation. Most disappointing, we were not asked on why we didn't touch our food.
