Wanted to have dinner at Liang Seah Street and saw a few people eating this so I thought it looks good and decided to try it. #noregrets
MALA ($8.20)
I ordered mushrooms, lotus roots, potatoes, fungus, luncheon meat, tofu skin and maggi noodles. I just LOVE how juicy the mushroom was and the texture was SO good. Iāve tried mala at other places and I feel this is a lot better than those at the hawker centres you usually eat. The level of spiciness was just nice for me (I ordered å°č¾£). Its very aromatic and Itās not so oily and not so salty at the same time, which I really love! (Because mala at other places tend to be either very oily or salty which can be really unhealthy). One thing I dislike is the portion of rice they give is pretty miserable and the seats are a tad bit cramped
Verdict: 9.5/10 š§
Havenāt been back to Jin Jin Eating House in a while! Tried the soup version this round and really liked the heat with the lingering numbness. Their ingredients are fresh and are cooked well - liked the chewiness of the wide sweet potato noodles and how they soaked up the slightly creamy soup nicely.
This is fast becoming one of my favourite places for mala; with its reasonable prices and the fragrance of its mala sauce base. But idk if itās just me or I caught them on a bad day, this was really spicy even though we got it at our usual heat level š¶š¶ (äøč¾£/medium spicy)
Still a good place to have mala though!
Itās been quite a while since Iāve visited Jin Jin for their MLXG but it looks like their popularity with the supper crowd hasnāt changed. Theyāve changed their serving bowls, thatās for sure, but the ingredients offered are pretty much the same. Thankfully the ingredients are weighed separately so you donāt lose out too much if you spam vegetables. This bowl for two with one bowl of rice cost us $18.20 which wasnāt too bad.
I ordered medium spiciness and less oil, and somehow it didnāt quite hit the spot as it did before. The Ma la wasnāt very spicy, and not numbing at all. Still, since it has a good range of ingredients - especially vegetables and mushrooms, Iāll be back again from time to time but Iāll probably get the extra spicy instead.
Passed by this place many times and finally came to try the Mala Xiang Guo during a weekday evening for dinner. Very exciting little Chinese Cuisine place with two storey seating. Affordable price for a stall in Bugis/Central Town Area and its äøč¾£ was pretty fierce. Enjoyed my meal and cheap thrills having a little heart shaped Cheese Tofu! š
How often do we see soup base mala xiang guo?
This mala xiang guo offer 3 levels of spicy level. If you like the spicy, go for medium...the items is self select and weight at counter, so take what you like and how much you feel like eating.
The soup base was very interesting, it's very ADDICTIVE. It's really feel better on a rainy day, it just warm up your body. There are air conditioning on the level 2 where you need to take the stairs up from the back.
Definitely I will go again, this shop closes at 2am... Another option open for supper..
