My grandma used to sell Hainanese chicken rice & have been eating it since young. Therefore, it's become one of my fav foods! If you are at Hougang Green, can try out this chicken rice stall, not too bad.

Pros: Classic style chicken rice. Rice & soup is fragrant. Not too heavy on MSG. Char siew is 👍, i always ask for less fat. Generous portion of meat for 2.
Cons: Chicken was quite dry today - usually pretty tender. It's too salty, oily and sweet for some but i like strong flavours so ok for me. Not smth i will travel down for (but char siew 👍 & will pack home if i'm around the area). Utensils oily & dirty, don't think food is very clean as well even by hawker standards, no wonder it tastes good? 😂
Price: S$9 for everything pictured
One of my fav local food! This prawn noodles stall opens really early (they say 6am but sometimes not ready, 630am safest) & insane queues from then on, easing out till about lunch time before closing. Go early for the prawn noodles and lor mee which is famous too, but i prefer prawn noodles. They close once they sell out, reopening at night to sell hokkien mee. This is def one of the better prawn noodle stalls in SG for sure.

Pros: The prawn mee soup is extremely flavoursome. Ingredients well prepared, especially the pork slices.
Cons: Snaking long queues. Salty, MSG, oily (it's hawker food!) Aunty can get quite impatient & rude. They allow their regulars to cut queue but whatever. It adds on to the hawker experience. Standard has become inconsistent and dropped over the years, still good.
Price: S$3.50 - If ordering dry prawn mee takeaway, they refuse to pack soup
