By the Jigger and Pony Group comes this Italian restaurant-bar, boasting stellar food, great drinks and amazing views of Marina Bay. The Burpple community has great things to say about many of their dishes, including the Stuffed Bomboloni, Spanner Crab Spaghetti and Mafaldine āCacio E Pepeā.

Nestled in Serangoon Gardens, this cosy joint is run by ex corporate warrior turned chef Fulvio Manini and his Singaporean wife Fiona. Expect idyllic vibes, friendly service and home-style Italian plates inspired by Maniniās family recipesĀ ā we particularly enjoyed the Pollo Alla Milanese.

Yin Ji
Guangzhouās famed congee chain has found its way to our shores, bringing its well-received menu of congee and rice rolls to the CBD. Burppler Xing Wei Chua had great things to say about the generous Fresh Prawn Rolls, while others in the community describe the congee to be smooth and thick, with generous amounts of ingredients. Xiang Tian Xia Hotpot
Switch up your hotpot routine with this new kid on the hotpot circuit. While this international chain does not have much of an online presence, Burppler Wei Zhi Chiang took a chance on it and left pretty satisfied. Expect highly customisable broths, fresh ingredients and warm service. Note that they donāt do half portions here, so gather a group!
Umi Nami
Yet another rice bowl player has entered the market, this time bringing tasty Japanese dons and sake to the Holland Village āhood. Burppler Hwans Lim tried and loved the Mekaiji Don, which sees lightly sauced swordfish cubes on rice. We hear the Monkfish Liver makes a great snack to go with drinks too.
Mr Sheng Jian
For sheng jian baos (pan-fried pork buns) and slippery noodles, look to this new Chinese eatery on Liang Seah Street. The classic Sheng Jian Bao are filled with well-seasoned minced meat and broth ā imagine pan-fried xiao long baos, and make a great pairing with the Sirloin Noodles, bathed in a spicy beef broth.
Hei Kim
For a new place to hang out in the east, check out this retail-cum-cafe concept in Eunos. The compact menu sees wallet-friendly comfort grub, including dishes like Scrambled & Toast ($7), Benedict ($8) and Beef Bolognese ($9). Donāt leave without trying the tarts, which goes perfectly with their well-pulled cuppa, to be savoured amidst super chill vibes.
Guschlbauer
If you like cheese AND sugar, rock up at this new Austrian bakery at Waterway Point. Theyāre famed for their Devil Cheese Buns. Expect a soft, sweet bun, filled generously with a cream cheese filling and topped with milk powder. Over the top? You tell us.
Fancy
Run by a team that cut their teeth at Sugarhall and Jigger & Pony, this new bar along North Canal Road promises great drinks, and some stellar plates like Steak Frites too. Burppler Shawn Loh, who was one of the first on the scene, describes the space to be āthe chillest, most minimalist bar to dateā but also declared that their impressive drinks are anything but. See you there.
DePizza
Before you start the Boat Quay bar crawl, make a stop at this new pizzeria, which the Burpple community has had nothing but praise for! We love that they do the classics right, but we also appreciate the local spin they put on their fusion pizza creations ā think flavours like Nasi Lemak, Gu Lou You and Chilli Crab.
KouKou Cafe
The first Dreamworks Koukou Cafe promises a fun, immersive experience for fans, as characters like Shrek, Kungfu Panda Po and the gang from Madagascar all make their appearance on the menu. Make sure your mobile phone is fully charged, for the dishes here are super Insta-worthy! The Kimchi Ramen, served with Po and Mei-Mei mantous, are currently a Burpple community favourite.
ToriYard
Nestled in the lush greenery of Bishan Park, ToriYard specialises in authentic Japanese yakitori (grilled skewers). The sprawling locale, complete with glass walls and chic, modern vibes, is the place for a fun Japanese date night, or for a meal with the extended family. Donāt miss their tasty Tsukune (chicken meatball) and Sasami (chicken fillet with mentaiko).

Ginza Kamo Soba Kyudaime Keisuke
Ramen Keisuke strikes again, this time returning with duck ramen in Holland Village. There are five different ramens on the menu, and all are served with tender slices of hybrid Irish duck. Burppler Justin Teo sang this shopās praises, describing his order of Hybrid Duck Broth Ramen to come with smoky duck and a comforting broth (he prefers the clear one), while Burppler Jasper Six&Seven had great things to say about the yuzu duck balls.
Wakey Wakey
By the same folks behind Strangersā Reunion and Curious Palette, Wakey Wakey is a Beach Road alternative for great coffee and buttermilk waffles. The many Burpplers who have popped by had great things to say about both, so itās hard to go wrong here. According to Burppler Cassie Ong, their menu of mains, when launched, will be something quite different from their earlier concepts. Stay tuned.
Claypots Full Circle
For your next team dinner, consider this Mediterranean, seafood focused restaurant in Amoy Street. Look past its misleading name (they donāt actually specialise in claypots) and youāre in for some pretty tasty plates. Burppler Muriel A loved the baba ganoush (part of the Trio of Dips), and weāve also heard great things about the Full Circle Portarlington Mussels, served with what weād describe as āfinger-lickinā worthy garlic sauceā. Order an extra portion of Turkish bread to mop it all up.
Haru
For healthy eats in Guillemard (especially for yogis and rock climbers practising in the area), this hole-in-the-wall near Brawn & Brains features a simple menu of four items ā three meat and one vegetarian protein, which you can customise with different bases (Japanese pearl rice, multigrain rice or soba). Burppler Dex Neo really enjoyed the gochujang pork, while Burppler Rueann Dass was won over by the green-friendly Tofu & Kale Salad ā a winning combination of well-marinated tofu, creamy avocado and crisp kale. Weāre sold!
Xin Divine
Look to this new restaurant on Duxton Hill for progressive Chinese served in an elegant, minimalistic setting. The Burpple community is just warming up to this place, but from the reviews garnered, this is one to look out for. Donāt miss Burppler Rachel Xieās recommendation of Szechuan Chicken Karaage, which she declares to be the best rendition sheās tasted, ever. Tell us what you think!
Nipong Naepong
A visit to JEM may be on the charts for fans of Korean jjampong, Singaporeās first fusion jjampong restaurant, this Korean import specialises in the noodle soup, with nine different variations. Burppler Xing Wei Chua describes their top selling Ro Ppong-Roje to feature chewy noodles slicked in a tomato cream sauce, topped with seafood and mozzarella cheese.
LES45
Hereās a new after-hours spot for you CBD folks to check out. Tucked away on the 45th floor of Singapore Land Tower, LES 45 serves authentic Mexican with a contemporary twist, along with a panorama of the city skyline. Burppler Veronica Phua was first to check it out, and reports several favourites, including the Tempura Hake Tacos and the fresh and zesty Scallop Aguachile (a kind of Mexican ceviche) with Avocado and Pickled Jicama.
