I recently visited Zhup Zhup and had a wonderful meal that left me feeling truly satisfied. I decided to try their prawn noodles (dry with soup on the side), prawn 泡饭, and ngoh hiong, and I’m so excited to share my experience.

Prawn Noodles (Dry)
The dry prawn noodles were a treat. The noodles had a lovely bounce to them, and they were perfectly coated in the sauce—just the right amount, not overly oily. The fried shallots on top added a delightful crunch, and the bean sprouts were fresh and crisp, balancing the richness of the noodles beautifully. I also appreciated the little kick of spiciness from the chilli, which gave the dish an exciting twist. The soup was light yet flavorful, with the prawn essence really shining through. It was comforting and warm, especially on the side of the more intense dry noodles.

Prawn 泡饭
If you’re looking for comfort food, this is it! The prawn 泡饭 came bubbling in a claypot, and the aroma was heavenly. The prawns were plump and juicy, and the soup had such a deep, rich flavor that you could tell it had been simmered to perfection. The rice soaked up the broth beautifully, creating a soft, comforting dish that warms you from the inside out. It’s the kind of dish that makes you feel cozy and happy with each spoonful.

Ngoh Hiong Platter
The ngoh hiong was an enjoyable side dish to complement the prawn-focused meal. Each piece was crispy and golden brown on the outside with a lovely, flavorful filling. My favorite was the prawn paste—it had the perfect balance of texture and taste. Paired with the dipping sauces, each bite was so satisfying and indulgent without feeling too heavy.

Final Thoughts: Zhup Zhup was such a pleasant discovery. Their prawn dishes were comforting, flavorful, and full of heart. Whether you're craving the hearty prawn noodles or the soothing prawn 泡饭, both dishes will leave you with that warm, fuzzy feeling. And the ngoh hiong was the perfect side to add some extra texture and variety. Definitely a place I’ll return to when I want a comforting, prawn-filled meal!
