Used the burpple beyond 1 for 1 deal for main dishes and got ourselves char siew and roasted pork which are their signature dishes. Served in individual bowls, the roasted pork belly came in 8 thick slices, they leaned more towards the fatty side which was surprisingly a tad tough for 1-2 pieces. Of special mention is the rind which is quite crispy. Otherwise, they were pretty ordinary. The cut for the char siew was pork belly. Sweet with a tinge of sourness and flame torched, nothing mind blowing (pun not intended) and just okay for me.
The fried wantons were oily - way over the top and too salty. It was also dense and too salty. Does not pair well at all with the XO sauce.
The noodles (mee Kia) were light, springy and savory. The chilli was sourish and did not add much to the dish. Pork lard was soft and a little rancid. Overall, a very disappointing dinner, too salty and one dimensional. Seems like the focus of this place is the drinks and not the food. Won’t be back.
Price: $10 for mains and $1 per bowl of noodles, $10 for fried wanton
