Nestled in the quiet Yio Chu Kang heartlands, Prodigal Roasters is a humble cafe that is undoubtedly passionate about their coffee.

Greeted by the friendly staff and inviting aroma of coffee wafting through the room, the minimalist space complete with the white walls and wooden counters displaying their daily bakes are sure to send your mood soaring and stress levels sinking. And of course, my eyes were set on the in-house desserts. Sharing the Miso Cheese Tart and Lemon Meringue Tart ($4.50/each), the former was certainly an intriguing combination. The medium-light cheese (a tad cheesy, would have preferred a lighter taste) complemented the caramelised miso glaze well, giving the piece a nice earthy, savoury-sweetness. For the latter, the lemon curd was zesty and balanced with the sweet torched meringue. Not forgetting the buttery tart base holding the layers together.

In all, a wonderful spot to spend your mornings or afternoons, chilling with a good cuppa and handcrafted pastries on the side.
