This was soooo not worth it. Yeah it might be traditional and whatnot but steamed claypot rice felt like an utter blasphemy. Where’s the wok hei aroma? Wheres that slight char I thought I was gonna get? Man, I would rather see those rice grains stuck at the side and impossible to scrape out. You see, this was still edible — but for $108, I’d rather have claypot rice in my humble hawker centres. Furthermore, the traditional steamed claypot rice was brought and dry, and lacked fragrance, which was truly not the kind of quality I’d expect from the price. The claypot rice was also served separately with the ingredients on the side, which was… not the best kind of presentation I’d like to see when I think of claypot rice. I was thinking a well presented claypot rice with all the ingredients laid out or mixed together with the rice. Btw, the picture above is a bowl of portioned rice with all the ingredients plated at the side. I guess the upside behind this concept was that people can just decide for themselves what ingredients they want to put in… But I could do that too with the ingredients in the bowl.

The LNY menu doesn’t seem as enticing as Peach Garden’s usual ala carte menu. Furthermore, let’s be real and say that prices at such restaurants are just so jacked up during this period, and I should’ve known better!
