Who doesn’t love foams and foam whiskers? My first taste of foamy milk tea was Hollin’s foam series. Thereafter I tried Hey Tea’s cheese foam which I thought was grossly cloying, calorific and pretty much unpleasant (why would any pay for an exorbitant of liquid cheese that completely masked out the tea aroma?) And so I was pleasantly delighted to find strawberry foam series available on Gong Cha’s menu! I figured it would simply be milk at best, and not so much of ‘cheesy’ taste. If any, it would be pleasantly masked out by the strawberry flavour. And yay - it tasted nothing close to a cheesy drink, nor was there any cloying mouthfeel. The strawberry fragrance added some tinge of fruitiness to the tea - it wasn’t overly milky, just nice! I had mine at 0% sugar, and so I could taste the distinct tea flavour and strawberry foam (here is some sweetness to it) I prefer to enjoy them separately so I did not mix them up right at the start- it was only till I was left with the really last quarter hat I decided to shake it up, so I don’t waste any strawberry foam that’s stuck in the cup due to the viscosity! Taste wise? Well.. just strawberry milk with v v mild hint of tea.
