Queued for 20mins and got a seat...read some reviews of peeps having to queue for more than 1.5hours. Tbh anything beyond that, you would prolly felt this aint worth it if you eat quite abit of lobsters. Dont kid yourself and read the reviews to justify it haha because we both know its true.
To be objective this review is base off someone that only queued for less than 20mins. For a coastal city, boston lobsters are rare in Singapore and not readily available to us at a reasonable price of 40sgd a dish. There isnt much competition for lobster rolls in Singapore, as compared to chicken rice. So when we say hands down best lobster roll in Singapore, its really just best out of say.. 5 restaurants.
Lets get to the taste. The lobster roll itself is the signature, base on careful analysis of TripAdvisor and dianping reviews the most popular dish ordered is the lobster roll, ordering anything else is just to satisfy your craving for the lack of boston lobsters in Singapore. The uniqueness and texture of the lobster roll comes from it using boston lobsters, using any other lobster like the type u have in jumbo seafood or tze char seafood restaurants...like the cuba lobster would make the dish taste soggy and mushy. The toasted brioche bun of the roll taste slightly sweet, in combination with the cold succulent lobster meat fillings results in a superb gastronomic experience. Its like having ikan billis in your nasi lemak the crunchiness of the ikan brings out the flavor in the rice. However it would pretty much be tasteless for us, until you dip it in the lemon mayo watery sauce.
So overall u get this taste of lobster meat with lemon juice dripped all over it with a tinge of mayonnaise. My fries were served old like its crunchy but felt like it was left on the tray and reheated, not made fresh. Additionally the restaurant staff were fantastic, aussie accent, friendly and very likable too. Hands down the best lobster roll you can get in Singapore.
