Launched in California over 30 years ago, "The Cheese Steak Shop" has just arrived in Singapore for the first time ever. I guess they must have taken their own sweet time to row over 😝. Ok, that was cheesy 😁
Anyway, moving right along.... once I read its tagline of "Caution: May Be Habit Forming", I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into one asap. So I went hunting for it at Kallang Wave Mall (unit #01-10 is outside the mall, at the H&M end). Being only one week old, things at this fancier version of a fast-food outlet were not in perfect working order yet. Quite understandably of course. The air-conditioning for instance, was being a drama queen. Luckily, they had fans to help cool the place.
The menu here featured a number of variants including those with chicken but I chose the classic: a 7" beef cheese steak. They cooked my order fresh and it was ready after about 5 minutes. Looks-wise, it didn't wow but I liked the taste. For starters, the bun was warm, having been slightly toasted on the outside. The bulk of the filling was freshly cooked thin strips of tender beef with soft white onions (so aromatic); the heat from that melted the light yellow cheese just below it into a slightly gooey state. I gobbled down the two halves of the sandwich without the aid of any condiments.
I doubt I'll crave this very often but I can see myself popping by occasionally. Does that mean I'll be forming a habit? 😉

Did you get the tokidoki sticker? 😃
Celest Lim No, I didn't. It could be because I didn't order the set meal. Haha, actually I came to have this after having had dinner somewhere else - so was quite full already 😁
Oh haha.. post-dinner sandwich? I heard of this place because of the tokidoki promo, haven't tried it but looks promising.
