I usually drink Starbucks especially when there’s 1 for 1 but my colleague is a CBTL supporter through and through so we ended up going to CBTL for our ang moh coffee fix today. I ordered a small cafe mocha and requested for a swap to soy milk, which comes at no additional cost (!!!!!). That was a pleasant surprise, given that I’m used to paying for soy milk at Starbucks. If you’re an NUS/NUH staff, you also get 10% off the bill so my coffee ended up costing about $5.60 only :) cheaper than Starbucks for sure.
I really enjoyed the coffee from CBTL. The taste of the coffee was a lot smoother, and I didn’t find the mocha too sweet although I didn’t request for less syrup as I usually do at Starbucks. I also felt that the coffee was stronger and gave me more of a perk me up than Starbucks coffee does. While I would still choose Starbucks if there’s a 1 for 1 promotion, I wouldn’t mind the occasional visit to CBTL for their coffee too :)
