Have heard quite a fair bit from other friends about MiXue’s Signature KingCone — so much that we have to give it a try. For those who are unaware, MiXue is a bubble tea specialty store that also serves up milk soft-serve — something similar to that of what Heytea though more on the budgetarian side of things. Apart from serving up various forms of bubble tea (think fruit tea, milk tea, cheese tea etc.) with different toppings, MiXue also serves up sundaes and smoothies as well.

Whilst MiXue does serve up quite a wide variety of items, the Signature KingCone is one that often finds itself being mentioned online — and that is probably for good reason too. With the Signature KingCone being priced at just $1, the soft-serve is probably one of the most affordable ones out there. We were actually pretty skeptical about this item from the start — given how MiXue is a bubble tea specialty store and how cheaply the Signature KingCone is priced, we weren’t really expecting anything much. That pretty much changed when we started with the soft-serve; the milk soft-serve is not only smooth, but doesn’t seem to be powdery nor artificial-tasting — all that without melting away too quickly which we found to be of a decent quality for the price. The milk flavour lingers at the back of the tongue subtly, all that whilst the cone that it came in is crisp; albeit thick when one reaches the bottom, but it is still pretty tall and probably is capable of holding more soft-serve that the cones that are typically served up at fast food joints. Overall, a soft-serve that is well-made considering its price range — nothing too artisan, but definitely something that fits well for an affordable cold treat that matches against what is offered at fast food chains; also one that I would consider having again!
