Birds of Paradise, a boujie gelato boutique located in the East Coast, is a popular local favourite and always comes up in conversations about ๐ฆ!
Today, during an afternoon drive, we shortlisted our flavours and decided to try it out!!! Knowing my luck, it started POURING, and by pouring, I mean it felt like someone was LITERALLY floating above my head and throwing buckets of water on me.
Lychee & Raspberry
Light pink, floral, and fruity! This flavour is really refreshing and tastes like summer! However, it took me a while to get the lychee flavour, but the traces raspberry was very strong.
Spiced Pear ๐
What? Wow! Omg, this one was a clear winner. The strongest flavour of the three I tried. The fresh flavour of the fruit paired with the spice complimented each other perfectly. The tiny chunks of pear added a tiny crunch!
White Chrysanthemum
Not too sure what I was expecting when I ordered this BEST SELLER flavour, but I do not regret it AT ALL. Every bite tasted like I was eating a flower field, it was delicate and sweet. I loved the tiny cocoa nibs that remained crunchy even as the gelato melted towards the end.
Thyme Waffle Cone
The sprigs of thyme folded into the batter is one of the most unusual, but creative twists to waffle cones. I loved how it complimented every flavour and toned down the sweetness. The best part was that it remained crunchy!
Overall, I thought the flavours were really subtle. Which in some ways is good because the scoops are really generous and you can enjoy the mild flavour over a longer period of time.
The scoops were REALLY big, omg what, Iโm a slow ice cream/gelato eater so it took a while and started melting hahaha oops.
๐ฑ: I really appreciated that the spoon and cup were biodegradable. This sustainable touch made me feel better about settling for a cup!
๐ธ: Single Cup = $5, Double Cone = $9
โ ๏ธ: Located on East Coast road so itโs quite hard to access with a car. $$$ (but the scoops are quite big).
โจ: 4/5
Memory/highlight: great range of flavours, you are spoilt for choice!
