I feel like Mama Diam should really be more popular, and people should be raving about their food as much as their drinks, because the food was fantastic!
We had a huge variety of dishes - the soft shell crab bao, chicken curry kueh pie tee, “bak chor” fries, salted egg lotus root chips, hae bee hiam mien and kaya churros.
The crab bao and the kueh pie tee were the stand-outs to me, really special and tasted different. All the other items were great too, save for the hae bee hiam mien that had an odd lingering aftertaste - I think the truffle was too strong.
The drinks were great as well; I had a calamansi and peach cocktail, which wasn’t too sweet and really packed a punch.
You’d probably need to make reservations, but it’s well worth it - sitting outdoors would be charming, since it’ll be with the backdrop of the mama shop exterior, but there’s air-conditioning inside, although it’s a little dark.
Aesthetic place that is more than just aesthetics alone!
