Let the school holiday begins! Celebrating my mum’s birthday at Beng Hiang that serves up Hokkien dishes with a nostalgic feel! We ordered all her much-loved dishes including cold dish [spiced sausage & fried prawn balls, salad prawns, cold jelly fish, fried shark’s fin with scrambled egg & crab meat], fish maw soup, “kong ba bao” and “orh nee” with medley of retro songs playing in the background from her favourite late Cantopop singer, Anita Mui. My mum who is in her 70s, commented that the taste and quality of the dishes we ordered, reminded her of what we used to eat when I was a kid back in the Eighties. Here’s to plenty of good food for the holidays!
